Celine Zouzou released in 2024, as part of the Haute Parfumarie line from French designer Celine - a sophisticated, grownup gourmand. Created by Hedi Slimane, it has notes of benzoin, tonka, patchouili, labdanum, vanilla and musk.
"I wished to create a perfume about utopic adolescence, capturing an ideal of eternal youth. The recklessness of the young French writer Françoise Sagan, the ingenue boyishness of Jean Seberg filmed by Jean Luc Godard, the magnificent heroines of the Velvet Underground, together with the young women I was able to photograph more than 20 years ago. I called my new perfume for Celine 'Zouzou', an affectionate and child-like nickname that appeared in the last century to describe a young woman with short hair." — Hedi Slimane
From the brand - "ZOUZOU, ECHOING THE LIVELY AND SLENDER ALLURE SPORTED BY 60’S ICONS - FACES FROM MOVIES AND LITERATURE. THE ETERNAL PARISIENNE CONSTANTLY REINVENTED BY HEDI SLIMANE. AN ADDICTIVE BALMY ACCORD WITH CARAMEL OVERTONES. AN AMBERY COMPOSITION WITH THE POWDERY TRAIL THAT SIGNS THE CELINE HAUTE PARFUMERIE COLLECTION..
Celine Zouzou is an eau de parfum, edp.
Fragrantica - "This is a gentle vanilla cloud, mature but modern. At the same time, there is a certain "je ne sais quoi" and a definite sexiness, thanks to patchouli and benzoin. It reminds me a lot of the house's own Dans Paris, perhaps slightly less vanillic and more musky. "
Fragrantica - " it starts with a Shalimar stripped of its animal facets—a much more modern Shalimar—but still with a vanilla base that is fifty percent and the remaining fifty percent are your memories and fragrant experiences. For me, it's a hint of Cuir Beluga for its biscuity leather side, a touch of Angélique Noire with its vanilla associated with angelica, giving it a slightly vegetal aspect. We also have a touch of Iris Ganache by Guerlain with its vanilla-iris-white chocolate accord. Well, Zouzou is all that, and I think that depending on your skin, because it’s really a perfume to try on the skin, you will certainly associate it with other references among your olfactory memories. It's quite incredible because on my skin, I perceive carnal, almost animalistic notes—a fragrance that is much sexier than Tom Ford’s Vanilla Sex."
Fragrantica - "ZouZou is a beautiful Tonka Vanilla dream. It gives me powder puff almonds. She’s something a sexpot starlet would wear. When Sabrina Carpenter sang “soft skin & I perfumed it for ya”, this is what she was talking about! ZouZou is twice as strong as Black Tie or Dans Paris. After hearing so many reviews saying it’s light I wasn’t expecting the staying power she has. What a nice surprise!"
Fragrantica - " ZouZou is a wonderfully delicate patchouli/ vanilla creation in its own right, with the signature Céline DNA that many perfume enthousiasts now love."
