Clive Christian Perfumes launched in 1999 after acquisition of Crown Perfumery based in England, which had been in existence since 1872. All bottles include the coat of arms from Crown Perfumery, with the motto "Fax Anini Honestae Gloria" - In honourable thoughts and deeds, glory will be found. Clive Christian was born in 1951 in Scotland, and his career included a successful business as a furniture maker.
It is a luxury brand with a hefty price tag on their perfumes, and they received the OBE (Order of the British Empire in 2012, for their contribution as a Designer to the British Luxury Goods Industry. Guinness World Records awarded Clive Christian No. 1 the title of World's Most Expensive Perfume. Victoria Christian has said in interviews that that was not their intent, it was just the result of taking away budgetary constraints from the perfume brief and allowing the perfumer to create the perfume they wanted with the raw materials they didn't have to compromise on.
Perfumes are created with quality, luxury materials, not necessarily following trends, just making beautiful perfumes.
At the time of their launch in 1999, they had six perfumes - three feminime and three masculine. Each launch, they make a feminine and masculine version of their new perfume.
