Description

Comme des Garcons Series 3 Incense - Avignon was created as an amber woody unisex fragrance. Avignon is part of the Comme des Garcons Incense Series (3).  This series was launched in 2002 and is devoted to the five main spiritual teachings of humanity.  Each fragrance is named after a city that is significant to those teachings.  Avignon is Catholocism and is a beautifully spicy fragrance composed of Roman chamomile, cistus oil, elemi, incense, vanilla, patchouli, palisander, and ambrette seeds.  Avignon is a city in the Provence region of France and was an influential Catholic center in the 14th century.  It is an eau de toilette, edt, and was created by Bertrand Duchaufour.

Comme des Garcons Series 3 Incense - Avignon Reviews

Fragrantica: "This might be the smell of an old stone church but there's not a whisper of damp or rot: it may seem dark and hallowed but it's dry too, dry as dust, dry as the crumbly pages of the parchment books and the most erudite scholars' wit. It swathes you in history, swaddles you in heritage, saturates your skin and clothes with thousands of years' worth of scent memories of reverence. And it also has that usual Duchaufour magic of letting the air and the light in, too: somehow you can sense the sunbeams, slanting in through scriptorium windows, which allows even this apparently heavy and "thick" atmosphere of resins to open up and sing, like the choir invisible."

Fragrantica: "When I wear Avignon I'm timeless, connected to a lineage of contemplative, quiet inner-seeking people using fragrance as an invisibly winged companion.
This is radiant incense, resins, cedar, sandalwood, chamomile, patchouli, vanilla, ISO E Super and the molecular genius of Aldehyde C-12."

    LOVE THIS

I had been searching for an incense perfume and fell in love immediately! Bought a full bottle the next day!

    Sadder and Wiser

It's the same from top note to drydown: smokey, and exactly balanced between dry and lush, bitter and honeyed, male and female. The perfect scent for the sadder and wiser older woman who no longer gives a damn what anyone thinks. Beware: though nominally an eau de toilette, a little dab'll do ya.

    Who'da thunk?

I'm a newbie to perfume, and I got this in the Beginner Niche & Classic Sampler set. After my first whiff of this I thought it was way too close to pure incense and I set it aside as something I'd probably never wear. Yet here I am, a week later, dabbing it on at home when I need a little comfort. It is warm, powerful, and I can't stop smelling it! I still can't imagine wearing it out of the house but am randomly and rapidly falling in love with incense perfume.

    Love this stuff

This is a great fragrance if you enjoy incense fragrances. Not at first, but after the dry down it smells a lot like Gucci Rush. A lot of people compare Wonderwood to Rush, but on me, this smells much more like Rush than Wonderwood. Even without that selling point, this is a great fragrance.

    Hard to describe...

Unlike others who have reviewed this scent, I do not feel like I am in church when I wear it. It is a wonderful cross between earthy and mysterious, always lingering. After it dries, it becomes soft and senuous but penetrating. I always get loads of compliments when I wear this scent. It is however, not for the faint hearted. I tend to love anything by Bertrand Duchaufour.
