Description

Creed Angelique Encens is part of Creed's Private Collection, which consists of fragrances made for special/famous clients. This one was created for Marlene Dietrich. It is a deep throaty scent of angelica, incense and ambergris.

Reviews of Creed Angelique Encens from noses that may or may not sniff the same as your nose.

from makeupalley - "I'd buy it, were it available. I'm glad I got to try this, it's a beauty. The beginning is rather 'mature,' powdery, vanillic, full-bodied, like Shalimar. It morphs quickly, on my skin, into a buttery, voluptuous incense that is very cultured."

from cafleurebon - "This, too, is no shrinking violet.  Attributed to Marlene Dietrich, Angelique Encens is a bewitching scent  utilizing angelica, tuberose, Indian jasmine,  Bulgarian rose, incense, ambergris and vanilla.  Sophisticated in the extreme, it will ‘pull’ different notes on each skin; as I tend to sweeten most scents, it eventually becomes very balsamic on me, with a mere tendril of smokiness."

    Makes me want to sing.

I sprayed the FOMO at the Creed store and found it a very pretty and dainty lace parasol of a (reformulated) flanker of Guerlain Apres L’Ondee. This is the discontinued vintage supposedly worn by Marlene Dietrich, though smelling this and thinking of her image, I fail to make that connection, but anyhow.... The first poster described Angelique Encens spot on, and I do get the soft incense woven within the amber and vanilla cushion. I definitely see its resemblance to Guerlain L’Heure Bleue, and while this isn’t nearly as emotionally charged as that, and doesn’t have that old, unforgettable Guerlain black magic, I still find this Creed worthy enough to sing its praises. That said, I’d be curious to know how an old version of Grossmith Shem-el-nessim compares. If I had to do a ranking, I would not take AE over the play doh-ey Caron Farnesiana, or my fascination as of late, Lanvin Pretexte, which I must acquire a travel spray of.

    A comforting scent

Angelique Encens has the overall effect of spice cake, loaded with warm spices; cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg with a good dash of vanilla and an underpinning of amber. I do not smell incense but it is a sweet and pleasant scent. The sillage is excellent and the lasting power at least 8 hours.
