Description

Christian Dior Homme was launched in 2011, created by Francois Demachy. Originally composed by Olivier Polge in 2005, then reformulated in 2011. This is the current version, created in 2020.  Notes in this version are bergamot, pink pepper, elemi, cashmere wood, atlas cedar, patchouli, Iso E Super, Haitian vetiver, and white musk.

This is the current version being sold.

From the brand - "This new Dior Homme has an unmistakably virile signature that does not prevent it from developing tender, sensual accents. It basically draws the portrait of a modern man." François Demachy, Dior Perfumer-Creator

According to the perfumer, this is a fragrance overdosed with carnal woody notes, and it represents a return to the basics: classic and simplicity. It is clear, clean, gentle, and woody but also slightly sweet, and wears like a second skin.

Reviews of Dior Homme (2020)

From Fragrantica - "This scent gets hate because of the nostalgia factor with the original Dior Homme. However this scent is excellent, simply awesome. Manly, citrusy, woody. 9/10."

Fragrantica - "ethereal, fresh muskiness, what a masterpiece in its simplicity"

Fragrantica - "Ar first like everyone else I know I rejected this fragrance but came around to giving it a chance and realized how fantastic it is. Excellent performance. Has a mature and retro feel definitely not for the younger crowd. This is a gem of a fragrance that’s highly versatile. One of my favorites"

Fragrantica - "Don’t underestimate this one. It’s profoundly wearable—for all occasions, any season any reason. I put some on under my shirt before bed last night and I woke up to gorgeous wafts of fresh yet warming woods and vetiver with a hint of citrus. There’s a combination of freshness and creaminess here that I find intoxicating."

Opulent. Very floral with a distinct "lipstick" vibe for the guys out there reading this. I know it seems feminine but grab a sample of any popular feminine scent and do a side-by-side comparison and this doesn't feel so feminine (there's no sweetness you associate with feminine scents). I think this is a masterpiece and am sad it has been reformulated. If this is too iris leaning for you try Prada l'homme or Givenchy Gentleman Boisee for an easier journey into the world of masculine iris

    I just don't get it

I guess it's a love or hate fragrance. It doesn't smell like a man's fragrance, for it's all iris, and strikes me as delicate, feminine and blah. I can't imagine why a man would be interested in this, but as they say, that's what makes horse-racing.
