Description

Diptyque Eau Duelle is an oriental spicy unisex fragrance created by Fabrice Pellegrin and launched in 2010.  A soft, inviting, warmed vanilla, it has notes of cardamom, elemi, olibanum, bergamot, pink pepper, juniper, saffron, black tea, musk, ambergris and bourbon vanilla. This is the EDP, eau de parfum.

Reviews of Diptyque Eau Duelle

From Perfume Posse: "Eau Duelle bears a bit of a resemblance to both L’Instant and Shalimar, the original oddball vanilla —  there’s that combination of citrus/bergamot, that smoky facet, and vanilla, after the spices have faded."

From Bois de Jasmin - "The smoky, balsamic note reminiscent of lapsang souchong tea is evident even amidst the peppery bergamot top note. Once the initial spicy shimmer softens, the smokiness deepens considerably. The main element that prevents the fragrance from taking a dry leathery direction is vanilla. The composition is richly foiled in its creamy, opaque sweetness. The sweetness and smokiness are kept in a nice balance, with neither one dominating the composition."

From Basenotes - "It's a classic and just smells great without any pretensions. A dry vanilla surrounded by cold spices and frankincense, which are subtle and just give the vanilla some character. The vanilla smells wonderful without being gourmand or sweet, and I can't get enough of the smell when I wear it."

From Influenster - "If you love warm, seductive vanilla scents, this one is truly for you. I decided to branch out from my Lavanila when it ran out, and I'm so glad I did. This vanilla is much deeper, more bourbon than pastry, and on me, it's extremely long wearing. I've been stopped in public several times to ask what scent I'm wearing, so needless to say, it is broadly pleasing."

    Very nice, but not unique

Eau Duelle by Diptyque is "An ode to travel and vanilla. Along the spice route, the vanilla at the heart of Eau Duelle takes on new aromas: luminous, addictive accents of calamus and dark, smoky nuances of cypriol. Travelling through time and over borders, Bourbon vanilla from Madagascar reveals itself between darkness and light." It's definitely an adult vanilla fragrance with lovely spices. Top notes: pink pepper, juniper berry, cardamom. Heart notes: cypress, frankincense , calamus, black ceylon tea, cistus. Base notes: bourbon vanilla, vanilla pod, vetiver, cypriol, ambroxan. It's a lovely fragrance for cooler weather. My only negative comment is that it reminds me too much of Caron's Sacre, which debuted in 1991, and I wore it forever. I love vanilla fragrances, but I prefer Guerlain's Spiritueuse Double Vanille, which is creamier and boozier. But, if you're looking for an adult, winter, spicy-vanilla, I'd definitely try Eau Duelle. Plus, you can't go wrong with the exceptional customer service and safe and fast shipping by Surrender To Chance. Also, mega KUDOs to STC for offering vintage fragrances. I've purchased a couple of scents that I wore "back in the day" enjoying the 5 ml rollerball flacon. It's like reliving my college days. Sigh!!!
