Fragrantica - "Sweet, spicy vanilla is one of my favorite fragrance profiles, and I already own a number of perfumes within that family. At the same time, I’ve always been tempted by cinnamon-dominant and gingerbread fragrances. I’ve tried quite a few over the years but never loved one enough to actually buy it. It wasn’t until smelling this that I realized how unnecessarily sweet so many of them have been. Here, it’s the careful choice of ingredients and spices, the delicate balance between them and the blending itself that seem to do most of the heavy lifting. So much so that the fragrance somehow comes across as buttery, rich and creamy without actually giving me an obvious buttery, creamy or lactonic note. And I think that is what makes this so good. Instead of building the gingerbread effect by throwing every literal bakery cue imaginable into the formula, it gives me the impression of warm, rich gingerbread through texture, spice and balance. My brain fills in the rest. The overall effect is an incredibly classy, high-end take on a fall/winter spicy gourmand. In the drydown, the gingerbread dough remains, though at this point it smells closer to raw gingerbread dough than a freshly baked one to my nose. It’s now accompanied by musk, a touch of saltiness and a slightly addictive edge created by the patchouli. I tend to struggle with patchouli most of the time, but here it’s one of those instances where it doesn’t really register as a separate note. Instead, it adds a slightly addictive herbal touch to the overall base, and if I didn’t know there was patchouli in here, I don’t think I would have guessed it. This has nothing to do with Vanilla Powder (I hate that scent), and I disagree with everyone calling it unoriginal or boring because, vanilla fatigue or not, I genuinely can’t think of anything I’ve smelled that does quite this. If you’re still hunting for that perfect gingerbread/pumpkin-spice-adjacent fall fragrance, do yourself a favor and try this."

I must admit that I am completely done with sweet fragrances and approached the testing with a lot of skepticism, but this scent truly surprised me. It’s a gorgeous interpretation of vanilla that feels incredibly noble. The fragrance is warming but isn't a cloying, sugary mess; the patchouli and labdanum beautifully hold back the sweetness that could otherwise overwhelm the whole composition. I love it so much that I want to buy it. Absolutely stunning."
