Summer 24 is composed of 19 natural ingredients, seven top notes, seven middle notes and five base notes. It is an aromatic spicy fragrance that is described on their website as: High blue skies. Meadows, sweet and honeyed. A valley shaded by orange groves. Water pouring from a terracotta jug. Time passing, slow and easy. For Summer 24, we sought to work with the hourly evolution of natural oils, capturing the scent of an entire day amongst the Tuscan hills, as it gently simmers and unfolds. And so we awaken to citrus top notes - lemons and blood oranges, the oil itself harvested from Sicily’s lush groves. To achieve a culinary opening accord that is distinctly Tuscan in flavour, we paired these fruits with spiced bay leaf and fennel seed, sweet and herbaceous. Imagining the morning sun glancing off cool, fresh water, we added pink peppercorn, instantly clean and sparkling. Noon comes, the height of the day, and with it the scent of herbs and flowers, giving out their best. The star is red champaca, a new ingredient for us. This member of the magnolia family has beautiful bright flowers, whose scent captures our deep, plush midday fragrance with its shades of green tea, champagne, honey and nectar. As we move into the afternoon, coriander seed, patchouli and nutmeg bring a dry, herbal accord - a bare foot pressing upon golden meadow grasses. Evening settles. The earth is baked and cracked, the light mellow.
Summer 24 features top notes of lemon rind, pink peppercorn, grapefruit rind, green mandarin rind, olibanum, fennel seed and blood orange rind; middle notes of bay leaf, neroli, bergamot rind, coriander seed, nutmeg, patchouli and red champaca flower; and base notes of red cedar, vetiver root, Siam benzoin, brown-eyed rock rose and hay.
Summer 2024 is twice aged and bottled in Somerset England and is a fragrance that can be purchased based on a subscription.
FFERN SUMMER 2024 REVIEWS
Fragrantica: This is beautiful! Like a sweet citrus tea spiked with rum. Settles to a pleasant patchouli skin scent after 10+ hours. Sillage is more moderate but the longevity is there for me.
Fragrantica: On my skin, this ends up smelling like Sweet Tarts, but it is just so good straight out of the bottle. It smells more like how I think it was intended on my fiancé, citrussy and peppery, and a tad sweet to take the edge off. Like making lemonade with the window open and snacking on a caprese salad. Underneath everything is Ffern's signature Hay note. Even though it is a little too sweet on me, I still really like it! It's my go-to perfume for when I want something more feminine leaning.
Fragrantica: My fave of Ffern series so far. SO insanely delicious. I honestly don't like most perfumes but enjoy essential oils. Most perfumes smell too much like chemicals to me, and seem to have bad reactions on my skin. Ffern is delicious and just so addictive. I wish it was not as expensive as it is, but whatever, it will be my guilty pleasure.
Fragrantica: Beautiful scent in my opinion. The blood orange is so strong in the opening a very pleasant citrus. It drys down to a dried herb then becomes a citrusy woody aroma again. Again a beautiful scent. Long lasting and strong. 10/10 Summer scent for me.
Fragrantica: My favorite Ffern so far. So addictive and unique. I get the citrus, fennel, and patchouli the strongest— I’ve seen reviews elsewhere describe a sort of hippie incense vibe, which I think is due to the strength of the patchouli, and I love it, but if that’s not your thing I think there is still plenty to enjoy here. Such a wonderful warm weather scent that’s still earthy, spicy, deep, & interesting instead of just a run of the mill citrus freshie. The one drawback, as others have stated, is the performance. It does linger, but it stays very close. I have to absolutely douse myself in this to get a slightly ok-ish sillage, and even that settles down too quickly. To be expected I guess for an all-natural warm weather scent (though tbh I think this is a year round wear given the depth and complexity). I’ve made a huge dent in my bottle and will likely trade in a future Ffern scent I don’t love as much for another of this.
Fragrantica: Unbelievable, i fell in love the instant I smelled it. i LOVE the hay note, not something i've tried in a fragrance before! it hits you hard out the gate with a super tart citrus note & an herbal spicy greenness. over time settles into a hay and patchouli + sweet orange kinda moment (that description doesn't do it justice, it's beautiful). i will be distraught when i run out of this stuff.
Glamorable: I’m no perfumer, but I can tell this is a piece of art. To me it smells like summer, and I love how it evolves throughout the day. The fragrance reminds me of summers in the countryside with my grandparents. It’s the smell of hay under the sun, the grasses, the wildflowers, and earl grey tea with orange marmalade and local honey. I’d pop into a time machine just to experience that again. Thankfully, ‘Summer 24’ is the next best thing.
