Fomowa Vanilla des Rois was released in 2025, created by Camille Leguay. Centered on rich vanilla, it has notes of bigarade, orange, Peru balsam, orange blossom, Tunisian neroli, cinnamon, pink pepper, vnailla absolute, vanilla, vanillin, tonka bean, amber, praline, cedarwood, patchouli and labdanum. Parfumo - "I do not gravitate towards ultra sweet gourmands normally. This was totally unexpected. Something almost burnt or caramelized about it. It sparkles. It is warm and sexy! One spray of my sample and I bought a full bottle. I think this is both familiar but yet a vanilla I have never smelled before. Totally addicting!"
Perfume Posse - "The top is surprising in that it manages to be orange (sweet flower and tart pith) along with a resinous note, and that is not a combination I expected to love this much. Then the cinnamon becomes stronger (again, love) and the middle stretch is more about the vanilla as the orange fades. It’s such an interesting vanilla, less gourmand and more … vegetal? Mineral? After 20 – 30 minutes, the fragrance assumes its final form. We’ve made it to the pralines … have you ever been in a praline shop in the southern U.S., or another place that makes vats of them while you watch? It’s a mouthwatering smell of caramelized sugar and toasted nuts. I only ever buy them one at a time because otherwise I’d eat a whole box and lapse into a coma, probably. So, anyway, these are French pralines (enrobed, caramelized individual nuts) rather than the American confection, but still: you’d think this would be a sugary sweet base, right? Nope! It’s just so different from what I’ve smelled in “praline” perfumes / room sprays which are overwhelmingly sweet. Instead it’s like you’re eating a praline while sitting in a sun-warmed patch of loblolly pines with a breeze blowing in from offshore."
Fragrantica - "Very balsamic at first, almost like vanilla tar. It subsides into an intense almost black vanilla that is sweet deep down. There’s a lot of dept, it’s very well blended, none of the notes clash or stand out, not even the patchouli or the floral. It’s placid but dark and it smells very intriguing."
fRAGRANTICA - "Vanilla Des Rois is sweet but not nauseating, like fire at will which I grew to hate and decluttered. To me this is closest to the vanilla in Initio’s Absolute Aphrodisiac, which I also have. It’s softer, without any animalic note. I do get a light citrus in the opening then a beautiful, creamy, praline/vanilla in the dry down. I don’t detect any other notes at all. I would say this is probably one of the few vanillas that is light enough to be worn all year round, and easily layer-able with other scents. I get a good 6-8 hours wear on skin from this, but it lasts much longer (12hrs +) on fabrics. It is a straight forward vanilla scent, but it’s done very well and one of the best vanillas available in my opinion."
