Fragrant Hay Sampler - Set of Seven 1/2ml Samples

This sampler is all about fragrances that feature the scent of new mown hay or foin coupé (French for cut hay). Chandler Burr calls hay absolute "one of the most sublime of all perfume materials. Hay is, as literally as possible, the smell of liquid summer sunlight." 

You will receive a 1/2ml sample (1ml sample vial filled half full) of each of the fragrances in this sampler. You also have the option of choosing a larger sized sampler. 

1. Dawn Spencer Hurwitz (DSH) Dutchess Meadows Voile de Parfum - A dream and memory fragrance of Spring grass, new mown hay, meadow flowers, and soil… wet with snowmelt. Horse barns and cow pastures roll along the countryside subtly adding their honey-like charm to the base note accord. Riding along the countryside with all of the windows rolled down in the early afternoon on a sunny Spring day in Dutchess County is how the perfumer can breathe in a favorite smell of hers. In her psyche this scent is synonymous with a sense of blossoming and the Earth’s renewal. It is what dreams are made of for her. Rural Dutchess County isn’t all that far north of New York City but it is filled with completely different imagery and smells. The City is full of gritty grease and petrol smells, sweet and savory food smells, mixed with funky ‘animal and human’ waste smells most of the time. The country is known for its funky aromas, too: while Dutchess County in the Spring is filled with dewy new hay, green grasses beginning to sprout, and flowers bursting through moist earth, there are loads of horses and cows filling the air with their smells as well. Dutchess Meadows is all that is dreamy and beautiful, scent wise, from the perfumer's childhood memories… it’s atmospheric, humid, sweet, round, sun-warmed hay fields with meadow flowers (and some horse and cow barns near by). Very dreamy indeed. Top notes: Bergamot, Clary Sage, Clover Leaf, French Lavender, Green Clover Blossoms, Green Grass, Tunisian Neroli, Violet Leaf Absolute; Heart notes: Hay Absolute, Rose Petals, Bulgarian Rose Absolute, Grandiflorum Jasmine, Liatrix, Labdanum, Acacia Honey Absolute; and Base notes: Australian Sandalwood, Brazilian Vetiver, Castoreum, Coumarin, Green Oakmoss, Horse (animalic accord), Leather and Oud Crassna.   
2. Der Duft Pride EDP - A collaboration with Miguel Matos. A retro fougere infused with petrichor; aromas of narcissus, hay, and sandalwood floating in the warm summer rain. 
3. House of Matriarch Destrier Extrait de Parfum - Destrier features two of House of Matriarch’s proprietary accords: Drawbridge Wood and Centaur and a tincture of horse tail from the combings of happy horses in North Bend, WA. It is a multilayered leather masterpiece, photorealistic as it is evocative of riding through a medieval forest, downwind of sweet grasses curing in the sunshine of nearby fields. This is a fragrance for lovers of horses, leather and the great outdoors. Destrier features notes of hay, clover, sweetgrass, smoky woods, valerian, leather, stables and bravery. 
4. Libertine Fragrances Sweet Grass EDP - Sweet Grass is an aromatic green fragrance that launched in 2014. Created by Joshua Smith, this is a gorgeous fragrance that brings to mind furrowed fields. With notes of tobacco, mimosa, rosemary, hay and tonka bean, this fougerè style fragrance is a re-invigoration of a classic cologne style. 
5. Sixteen Wintering Parfum Extrait - Wintering was originally released with the Winter 2014 Collection. This is a new and reformulated version of the original 2014 release. This version is similar to the original but has been updated and improved. It is also vegan-safe. Wintering is a cozy wintry atmospheric/gourmand fragrance with spicy honey and tobacco notes. The crunch of Fall’s last leaves underfoot, fragile and frost-blanketed. Dry hay bales, chilled earth, and thick honey warmed with gingerbread-spiced vanilla bean. With notes of absolutes of hay and tobacco; beeswax accord; a spot of rare, aged patchouli; smoky black vanilla bean; and warm, spiced gingerbread. 
6. Solstice Scents Farmhouse in Fall EDP - In Farmhouse in Fall as you are walking up the farmhouse steps, you breathe in the aroma of fresh Fall air with hints of pear, chamomile, dried leaves and hay. Crossing the threshold into the warm interior, notes of white sugar, buttery shortbread, toasted marshmallow and a kitchen hearth fire permeate the heart of this fragrance, along with restrained spice notes of clove and nutmeg. A base of smooth aromatic sugared sandalwood, cozy woodsmoke and traces of lingering gourmand notes creates a comforting woody, smoky, sweet feeling.  
7. Solstice Scents Riverside Hayride EDP - The Riverside Hayride is a very atmospheric unisex fragrance. From their website: The Riverside Hayride is an annual nighttime outing that commences at full dark at Corvin's Apple Orchard. The hayride winds through the cemetery then hugs the north river until just past the Maine Moon Drive-In where the ride shifts to the left and continues past Oak Pond and Gunnerson's Pumpkin Patch, finally culminating at the Gibbon's Boarding School where the Bandstand Juniors are hosting a haunted house in the west wing of this formidable institution. Riverside Hayride opens with a potent blend of moss, wet dirt, stone and fallen leaves. White carnations, bare branches and hay quickly follow. A very subtle trace of pressed apples carried on the breeze from Corvin's Apple Orchard arrives after a few minutes of wear. As the blend settles on the skin, the strong earthy outdoors notes are tamed a bit, allowing for the white carnation, wood and hay notes to become more apparent. The apple top note disappears. A thin line of woodsmoke permeates the blend on the dry down. Riverside Hayride is a very literal earthy outdoors blend with dirty carnation and November wind. With notes of moist dirt, white carnations, fallen leaves, bare branches, hay and a hint of pressed apples carried on the breeze from Corvin's Apple Orchard.
