Description

Guerlain Nahema EDP was created by Jean-Paul Guerlain in 1979 and the name was taken from a character in Scheherazade's Thousand and One Nights. It means "Daughter of Fire." It is Guerlain's big rose fragrance and Jean-Paul Guerlain said he imagined this fragrance after seeing French actress Catherine Deneuve surrounded by rosebuds in the 1968 film "Benjamin: the Diary of an Innocent Boy". Jean-Paul was a passionate cultivator of eighty varieties of roses and it was his favorite perfume ingredient.

Nahema features notes of hyacinth, ylang-ylang, rose, jasmine, lilac, lily of the valley, peach, tonka bean, Peru balsam, benzoin, vanilla, vetiver and sandalwood. It is an eau de parfum, edp.

Reviews of Guerlain Nahema EDP

From Bois de Jasmin - "Nahéma often makes me think of Titian’s golden haired beauties. If the great master’s Danae is wearing a fragrance, it has to be something opulent and rich like Nahéma. The painting depicts a voluptuous woman whose pearly white flesh is gleaming on the canvas. Her golden hair is streaming down her shoulders in its resplendent glory. The white arm with a ruby bracelet is caressing a small dog, whilst her gaze is directed towards the ceiling as Zeus, her lover, is descending into her chamber in the guise of golden rain. The eager expectation and sheer passion is captured masterfully by Titian and that is a befitting setting for Nahéma."

From Now Smell This - "Nahéma goes on like a silk robe. We're talking thick silk charmeuse, too, not the cheap stuff. It also has robust sillage. Many rose perfumes are wonderful for a day at the office, but to me Nahéma is best saved for the evening when you can balance it with matte lipstick, night air, and neon lights. Nahéma is wonderful on the skin, but I'd guess it would be equally wonderful smelled the next morning on the cocktail dress you left on the floor."

    Bold, unapolygetic red rose!

Not an "old lady" rose, not a fresh, dewy rose, but blood red rose at full bloom! Unfortunately there is something that gives me a mild headache.
