Cathedrals and churches around the world have a scent that is a mixture of old hymnals, candle wax, wooden furniture and lingering incense. If a church is made of stone they can also give off mineral and earthy odors as well. This sampler features fragrances that are inspired by or dedicated to cathedrals, churches or places of worship.
You will receive a 1/2ml sample (1ml sample vial filled half full) of each of the fragrances in this sampler.
- Solstice Scents Basilica Perfume Oil - The scent of grand and humbling mosaics, haunting pipe organ notes, polished pews, smoldering resins and reverence. Basilica is comprised of a rich labdanum absolute which smells of sweet, balsamic golden amber, vanilla, essential oils of frankincense, including a very fine green Hojary, bright rosewood, myrrh, Peru balsam, sandalwood, a few drops of galbanum and cedarwood. The frankincense blend is bold on initial application. The scent hugs intimately close to the skin on the drydown.
- Arcana Wildcraft Mad Monk Perfume Oil - Some considered Grigori Rasputin to be a depraved charlatan, while others believed he was a mystic with magical powers, but no one could forget his haunting gaze. With notes of golden amber resin, Siberian fir needle, Arcana’s Holy Terror (burning frankincense, sandalwood, deep myrrh, and dusty beeswax candles), coarse brown bread and warm fur.
- Black Baccara Midnight Mass Perfume Oil - A smoky, resinous fragrance with highlights of frankincense, myrrh, ancient moss, aged merlot, antique woods and extinguished candle wick. Sacred, timeless, evocative, brooding and precise to the aromas of a Midnight Mass in winter including the aroma of burning candles.
- The Little Book Eater Pillars of the Earth Perfume Oil - Inspired by the epic historical novel, The Pillars of the Earth, this is an earthy, vintage, woody fragrance with notes of frankincense, myrrh, sandalwood, and patchouli. Reminiscent of an ancient cathedral and church offerings.
- LizabeCo Cathedral Parfum - Cathedral takes you on a walk through the hallowed halls of an old, gothic cathedral. Breathe in the remnants of smoky incense from masses long ago. With notes of frankincense, myrrh, rose, incense and oud.
- Side Story Sunday Service EDP - An aromatic spicy fragrance that launched in 2022. Created by Jacques Chabert and Argeville. Described on the website: As he slipped into the pew, he noted how soft the wood felt beneath his fingers, polished and worn from so many years of human touch. But the music was the same. The cool, oaky air of the church was the same. The smell—ageing paper, freshly mown grass—just the same. As much as time was hurtling by, it felt in the moment that nothing had changed. Slip into a quiet, contemplative reverie. A return to old surroundings, respectful tailoring, and formal introductions. The worn leather of an heirloom wallet touched by divinely feminine antique rose, enlivened by old-world pepper & spice and carried by the rich resin of ancient frankincense. The fragrance of a ponderous stroll in wildflower season at the golden hour. The essence of eyes gazing across a vast burnt saffron horizon, feet planted in the aged earth. With top notes of saffron and pepper; middle notes of rose and patchouli; and base notes of cistus labdanum, frankincense and gurjum balsam.
- Alkemia Gothique Perfume - The scent of midnight mass in a medieval cathedral. A Byzantine monastic incense recipe of Somalian frankincense, styrax benzoin, Arabian myrrh, cassia, spikenard, canella, Liquidambar orientalis, labdanum, Atlas cedar and vetiver.
- Lurker And Strange Sanctum Perfume Oil – Reminiscent of the incense you would find in Byzantine churches, both Orthodox and Catholic. With top notes of honey essence and sweet citrus; middle notes of Palo Santo, benzoin and labdanum; and base notes of frankincense, myrrh and sandalwood.
- Possets Midnight Mass at Old St. Mary’s Perfume Oil - Based on the oldest church in Cincinnati, Old St. Mary's, built circa 1841. It is ornate, trimmed in every style you can think of, cold in the winter and filled with those who treasure the tradition of this wonderful ritual. The fragrance is a resinous incense blend, redolent with the polished wood of the pews, beeswax candles and offertory fruits.
