Description

Hermes Hiris is built around one note, the iris, Hermes Hiris eau de toilette is a simple, elegant scent that is completely refreshing.  According to www.perfumeposse.com it is one of three Iris Monsters, but, if found, much less expensive but still a great iris fragrance.

Reviews of Hermes Hiris

From boisdejasmin - "Smelling Hiris recently made me poignantly aware how much my scent perceptions have changed since I first smelled it 10 years ago. Then it struck me as a sophisticated and mature fragrance, requiring red lipstick and a manicure to match its lady-like demeanor. Today I still find it elegant, but above all, it conveys to me a lighthearted, effortless elegance, a comfort in one’s own skin. Wearing Hiris, I feel serene and content. While it is an unobtrusive fragrance, it is definitely one that makes others lean in and inquire, “What are you wearing? You smell so good.”"

From nstperfume - "The opening notes are simply stunning: crisp, dry and peppery iris, with lots of dirt-caked roots and greenery. I did not recognize the carrot note until I smelled L'Artisan Fleur de Carotte, and so learned what a carrot translated into perfumery smells like. Yes, there is carrot in Hiris too, although only for a brief while. As it dries down, the high pitched, almost metallic hum of the top notes calms, and the hay and wood notes intensify, along with a tiny whisper of rose."

    beautiful quality

I tried a spray of this at the Hermes store, and then wandered in a nearby park sniffing my wrist. Had to try a decant to see if I was really in love. It's an iris solifore, a bit bossier that Jean Claude Ellena's creations with Hermes, but Olivia Giacobetti does a beautiful job here. The initial blast of floral dries down into a soft fresh scent with some powder. Somehow it's not too much of any of these qualities. I got a full bottle for Christmas, totally gorgeous. If you have always wanted to love white floral but don't, try this. It's not too loud but not too soft. Like all the other Hermes frags I've tried, the quality is over the top spectacular.

    Classic iris

Something about it says clean and fresh to me. I found this to be a classic clean, powdery Iris in a good way, not "old ladyish". I don't think it's got anything controversial about it, no undertones of lusty musk or spice, so if you're looking for excitement, keep looking.

    Im glad I tried it

While not my favorite Iris, I'm glad I tried it. Hiris is a bit too transparent and often astringent for my taste. Yes, familiar iris notes are pleasantly revealed in the early stages, however, to my nose they are joined by a hairspray-like haze of alcohol and abstract florals. I don't think a full bottle is in my future but I still think it's worth sampling and I have a feeling that I may discover more to this one with future wear. I just haven't totally figured Hiris out yet.
