Jo Malone launched her perfume shop in 1994, after a career as a facialist, in London. She worked with French perfumers to create fragrances out of unusual notes. She gave Nutmeg & Ginger body oil to her facial clients. One ordered 100 bottles to give away to clients. 86 of those 100 who received a bottle called Jo to order more.
At that point she was making the products in her home with her husband, Gary. As orders grew, she knew she had to move to a shop, so she opened her first shop in Walton Street in London.
Jo Malone Lime Basil & Mandarin is one of the standouts and best-sellers in this line, and it's been included in Perfumes: The Guide masterpiece selection.
In 1999, she sold the company to Estee Lauder and stayed on as creative director until 2006. In 2011, she launched another company, Jo Loves.
Jo Malone perfumes continue on with a fresh approach to fragrance, bringing lightness and wearability to all the perfumes in the collection.
