L'Artisan Nuit de Tubereuse was created by Bertrand Duchaufour and released in 2010. It takes its inspiration - the scent of luminous Paris nights - a romantic tuberose fragrance. There was quite a bit of opinion differences on this. It is not a tuberose in the way that Fracas is a tuberose. It is earthier, tropical without big white floral slapping you i the face. It is subtle and sly and hard to pin down. That makes it enchanting.
Reviews of L'Artisan Nuit de Tubereuse
From Bois de Jasmin - "In fact, Nuit de Tubéreuse breaks many tuberose rules: it is neither creamy, nor especially heady. It is not even particularly petally. The emphasis on earthy tones makes for a surprising discovery of this facet in tuberose. The characteristic coconut aspect of the flower is toned down, and the lactonic fruity elements are replaced with the piney tartness of mango, which in turn makes for a lovely affinity with the spicy chill of cardamom and pink pepper. The floral heart of Nuit de Tubéreuse takes the direction of sheer rose, laced with jasmine, which gives an interesting classical feeling. Finally, the drydown with its strong accent on green, musky angelica and oriental balsams is satisfyingly deep, dark and enveloping."
From Now Smell This - "The tuberose in Nuit de Tubéreuse is dusky and strange.1 It's tropical, but tropical in the sense of moisture, humidity, heat and decay — it does not smell like any variation on the über-feminine, hothouse floral sort of tuberose we all know and that some of us love. In that sense, it might well be, as some have said, that it's that rare tuberose that a man could wear, although it's still not at all what I'd call masculine."
From Candy Perfume Boy - "It is fair to say that Nuit de Tubéreuse is not your typical ‘heavy-hitter tuberose’ that we are used to seeing, it’s actually quite light, although I would never describe it as ephemeral, it is something else entirely. Nuit de Tubéreuse stands unique amongst its tuberose counterparts, and whilst it may take a little persistence to understand and love, it is absolutely worth the effort."
