When we think of Magnolias, we think of the south, big flowering magnolia trees, and it is native to the southeastern part of the United States. But Magnolias from around the world smell different, it is not the same smell from magnolia blossom in Paris to one in Louisiana. Some are very sweet and cinnamony, and some are hyacinth-like and some are a little jasmine-like and spicy. So this note in perfume won't always smell exactly the same across perfumes, and perfumers, in the notes they provide to the public, often don't reference the type of magnolia it is.
This sampler has some of the best examples of what we typically think of as magnolia in perfume, which is the creamy sweetness with a touch of citrus. There are few magnolia dominant perfumes since magnolia is most often used in the floral blend, so I've picked perfumes that follow that tradition.
