Description

Marissa Zappas Maggie the Cat is Alive, I'm Alive! was created as an ode to Elizabeth Taylor's performance in Tennessee Williams "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof."   The heat of summer, champagne stained and angry heartbreak.   Zappas created this scent for free for someone important to her, and it did not work out.  She says "“It was the only perfume I’ve ever done for free for anyone, and then it didn’t wind up working out with him, and I resented the fact that I made the fragrance for him, so I was like, you know what? I need to turn it into something...  I wanted it to feel kind of animalic but also vintage. Also sunny but kind of dark. Elizabeth Taylor just screaming in the sun, that was the inspo.” (From Nylon article)

Notes of champagne, ambrette musk, peach, oakmoss, violet, orris, amber, castoreum, sunlight and sandalwood.    This is an eau de parfum, edp.

Marissa Zappas is a new line of fragrances that launched in 2022. She is a perfumer, scent designer, and poet based in New York City. Her approach to perfumery merges her background in anthropology with her admiration for avant garde perfumes of the early twentieth century.

Marissa Zappas Maggie the Cat is Alive, I'm Alive! Reviews

Reddit - "So far, this fragrance has been a bomb of ambrette, peach, violet, and orris. Notes of castoreum and patchouli are listed, but I can't detect them easily, and I'm not mad about this. Some may say this makes the fragrance more boring, or too old-fashioned, but I have been loving it so far. It's somewhat similar to Lilac Dream, but with less greenery and more sweetness."
