Twenty-two mentions of synthetic, fifteen of screech, forty-four of powdery. The page calls it skin chemistry. It is not skin chemistry. Three things are happening simultaneously and each camp is reporting a different one. The iris is producing the powder. The sandalwood materials — a reconstruction, as nearly all modern sandalwood must be — are producing the cream. The woody-amber fixative is producing the projection and the eight-hour tail. The disagreement is entirely about the third. Sensitivity to woody-amber materials varies enormously between individuals; some noses barely register them, others find them abrasive at any dose. If you are in the second group this fragrance is two beautiful hours followed by six of the thing you cannot tolerate. If you are in the first it is a warm blanket all day."
