Tuberose
Quality scent. Tuberose and powdery with sophistication sprinkled throughout.
An incredibly sensual spicy Oriental fragrance with top notes of orange flower, cardamom, ginger and orange guinee; middle notes of oliban, cinnamon, tuberose, sandalwood, clove and cedarwood; and base notes of amber, leather, musk and tonka bean. Nuit Noire is an eau de parfum, EDP.
Nuit Noire was created by Mona as an homage to Serge Lutens after meeting him in his boutique. It is also a nod to one of his first fragrances (Shiseido Feminite du Bois) so she dedicated this scent to him.
Quality scent. Tuberose and powdery with sophistication sprinkled throughout.

After all these years this is still one of my favorite perfume. It's unique. There is not another one like this on the market. I discovered it in Vancouver after a cruise. I took a look at The Perfume Shoppe, who was at a mall nearby my hotel, were I stayed. I'm a passionate perfumista so I was intrigued. Naz, the lovely, knowledgeable shop owner (she is a great nose), matched me perfectly with Nuit Noire on what my perfume preferences (Shalimar) were at the time. Nuit Noire is all I expected and more. Yes, it’s animalist, oh so sensual, full of funk and darkly delicious, but it presents itself in a soft and delicate manner, that is quite surprising. Nuit Noire is not a muscular panther stalking it’s prey, it’s a purring house cat that softly warms one’s lap, Yes, it’s a beastly little thing, but is isn’t wild – it is comforting, loving and beautifully smooth. It was discontinued for several years to my chagrin. I am happy to say that they put that jewel back on the market. I’m thrilled as is it is one of my signature fragrance I love to wear.
Oh how I wish I had splurged on a bottle of Nuit Noire when it was still in production. Even if the market is becoming flooded with perfumes claiming to be 'noir/noire', few of them succeeds very well. Nuit Noire however is a great interpretation of perfumes from the past (it's slightly Caron-ish). After the initial (and quite frankly not so charming) burst of ginger it quickly settles into a powdery and slightly soapy orange blossom. Thankfully there's enough smutty civet and dirty musk in there to satisfy my cravings and it's what noire-ifyes the composition. The smooth spicy base is just purrrre pleasure. I'd classify Nuit Noire as a naughty scent, perfect for the days when you wear your most extravagant underwear under your distressed jeans together with a plain white t-shirt and tousled hair. Effortless sexy.
