There's a great similarity between all the Montale Aouds and they are all nice. But the Aoud Velvet has its own distinctive, delicious note. I can't identify it but it has a "fuzzy" quality that I find irristible. Whatever it is, it raises the fragrance from merely nice to 5 stars for me.
