Description

Ormonde Jayne Ormonde Man was launched in 2004, created by the line's owner and founder, Linda Pilkington. Ormonde Jayne Ormonde Man is the signature masculine scent in the line.  Black hemlock adds much interest to this very woodsy spicy scent. 5 star rating from Luca Turin and Tania Sanches in Perfumes: The Guide.

 Ormonde Jayne Ormonde Man Reviews

From The New York Times - "Ormonde Man, however, is spectacular. It disposes of the sharp glass edges and hard bathroom tile of the hygienic school to offer something unusual: masculine gentleness. I can’t imagine a scent more right for this rough time. Citrus and spice are ingeniously hidden inside sweet heavy cream and warm, caressable male skin. (A hay absolute, perhaps.) The overall effect is of clarity mellowing to a golden gourmand, though in reality it is contemporary art whose beauty lies in deftly defying identification. In Italian, furbo means sly and cunning, and this scent is furbo, but nicely. You’re not sure if it’s subtle or sharp. (It’s both.) For Schöen to create, and Pilkington to direct and sell, such a scent to men is one of the small revolutions that make you believe again in the possibility of men wearing intelligent scents."

From Candy Perfume Boy - "The zing of the opening soon makes way for a heart of rich woods. A blend of oud, cedar, hemlock sandalwood and vetiver manages to smell deep yet light, its as if the depth of the materials is seen from a distance and one only realises their scale as one peers over the edge. To me Ormonde Man can be summed up in one line; deep, rich woods that are quiet and un-oppressive."

From Basenotes - "When I went out the scent transformed and unfurled into a amazing haze of subtle green sappy spices and creamy woods all around me. It was subtle but smelling this scent when it takes to the air was very different from up close."

From Fragrance Daily - "Everything about Ormonde Man points to it fitting a modern-man, no matter his age, this composition is timeless, but mature. There aren’t many fragrances I would like to be remembered by, considering many of us in this hobby possess tens, or hundreds of bottles, decants, and samples, but this right here- Ormonde Man is signature-scent worthy. From the peppery opening, all the way down to the creamy-woody, sandalwood and cedar infused base."

From Reddit - "This fragrance is beautiful and a sort of olfactory love song to stylized/idealized masculinity. It's smells manly in a way that's timeless like if JFK came back and wore the exact same clothes he wore in 1962 he'd still look amazing today. If you are looking for a workhorse scent that won't bore you to tears, this is it."

    Favorite masculine

This is my favorite masculine fragrance among the fifty I've tried. It gives a very minimal chemical headache, unlike 99% of the other mass market fragrances I've tried. I just wish it was sold in the U.S. and that it wasn't $166 from the U.K.

the oud opening is very nice mixed with some warm spices., overall very nice fragrance, although the mid and bottom notes are reminiscent of Millesime Imperial.
