Parfums de Marly Safanad was launched in 2013. Created by Fabrice Pellegrin, it has notes of orange, pear, orange blossom, ylang-ylang, iris, vanilla, sandalwood and amber. It is an eau de parfum, edp. From the brand, "A warm and velvety fragrance. This eau de parfum is born from the sunlight. Safanad opens with orange, pear and petitgrain essence and follows with a heart of jasmine sambac absolute, ylang-ylang and orange blossom, to develop a coveted scent. Amber, vanilla and sandalwood further divulge at the base to create a warm, woody fragrance, weaving a trail of comfort."
Fragrantica - "The opening has an amazing bubbly, sparkly, sweet fruityness thanks to the pear note and it's one of the best pears you can find in a perfume. It's sweet as if it's a honeyed pear but it's not a cheap kind of sweetness. I also feel there's something like champagne in the opening.eventhough it evolves to something that's also beautiful, I wished the opening would last longer. after a while it's sweetness calms down a bit and it's floral heart starts to bloom and boy, what a gorgeous flowery scent. ylangylang is not one of my favorite floral notes. I usually feel it has bitterness and gives the scent a dated or too mature vibe or it's chewy and banana like and reminds me of banana bubble gums but not here. Safanad has a detectable ylangylang note but it's the best ylangylang I have ever experienced.I feel it's responsible for the sunny vibe and how sophisticated this perfume feels. orange blossom is even more high quality than the orange blossom in Elie Saab Le Parfum Intense. it's almost as good as the orange blossom note in Serge Lutens Fleur d'Oranger. iris is another challenging floral note for me and fortunately it's not heavy in here. just enough to add to the luxurious feeling of the scent. this beautifully balanced florals wrapped in amber-vanilla powderyness stay the main stars of the show on my skin for a while. the drydown is mostly orange flower, vanilla and amber."
Fragrantica - "PDM never lets me down. This one smells like the linden trees the way I remember them from my childhood. I love it!"
Fragrantica - "Safanad to me smells like a very pretty and effortlessly chic rich woman drinking mimosas with her girlfriends."
Fragrantica - "one of my favorite... orange blossom, irish , fresh oranges, soft, and elegant... a perfect blend of notes to my nose.. 9,5/10"
Fragrantica - "SAFANAD embodies a graceful waltz around orange blossoms and ylang-ylang, displaying a sense of order and elegance that firmly aligns with the realm of traditional perfumery. It is as pleasing as predictable, the refreshing touch of pear prevents it from fading into forgettability, though it doesn't perform miracles. As it dries down, it develops a remarkably smooth and creamy character, delivering sweetness without veering into the realm of edibility, courtesy of the timeless fusion of vanilla, sandalwood, and amber. This fragrance isn't targeted towards a younger audience, that much is certain; it easily evokes imagery of a stylish aunt or a well-established socialite, beyond the need to make an impression. The quality is palpable, yet compared to other fragrances from the same brand, its longevity and projection are slightly lacking."
