You will receive a set of ten 1/2ml samples from the Pearfat Parfum line of fragrances. Pearfat is an indie perfume line out of Indiana, created by Alie Kiral. The company combines classical perfumery molecules with modern olfactory innovations to create nods to pop culture, a space for gender fluidity, and scents that speak to instigators. The fragrances are all about capturing sense memories of growing up in the Midwest, honoring great fragrances of the past and offering a sense of humor about our bodies. Their line is dedicated to adorable troublemakers! We were asked by a customer about carrying this line and I'm so glad to have found these fragrances. Absolutely wonderful line!
These are all eau de parfums, edps.
- 2030 Park Avenue - A young couple, all dressed up, glittering like the night sky, tumble out of the rain into Cliff Bell’s nightclub entrance to celebrate. The snare drum's sound greets them, then the snap of a hi-hat, a few notes on a saxophone as the band warms up. The air is velvety, thick, and warm, casting an air of romance as the duo settles into a corner booth. They are surrounded by the mythic history of Detroit - the handmade beauty of the details in every inch of the tiled stage, the sounds of jazz beginning to fill the air. The lovers sip effervescent cocktails and clink their glasses, toasting to their future + the love of the tenacious city enveloping them. 2030 Park Avenue is a earthy citrus/woody white floral fragrance that smells like a french 75 cocktail, a sprinkle of rain outside on a spring evening, warm wood and velvet. It features notes of candied lemon, fresh rain, ambrette, tuberose and cedarwood.
- Amicus Cumulus - On certain spring mornings, step outside, and you may notice the clouds showing off for you. You are present, happy, and alive. I have always believed that a beautiful sky in the morning is a good omen for the day. Clouds look soft, fluffy, and amorphous, yet they also contain a mighty side. This is a fragrance about being in tune with the world around you - turning soft, remembering your power. Amicus Cumulus is an ozonic breezy green fragrance with notes of sweet black licorice, fresh strawberries and milky Oolong tea.
- Big Floppy Flowers - Is there anything more magical than a field of wildflowers? I attempted to bottle some elements of that magic here - a breezy, light, crisp floral evoking memories of stumbling upon an unending sea of color and greenery while wandering a wooded Midwestern path. If you know, you’ll know - if you don’t, I hope this still makes you smile. Big Floppy Flowers is an ozonic bouquet that smells like hiking down a path in a forest in Michigan and coming to a prairie clearing filled with blooms. It features notes of pink pepper, green mandarin, lily of the valley, wild celery, daisies and tall grass.
- Bread & Roses - Initially, a limited edition fragrance for Holiday 2022, Bread + Roses became Pearfat’s best-selling fragrance! Because of this, it will now be a permanent edition available year-round. It is a floral gourmand that smells like cracking into a warm, fresh, baguette, soft red rose petals and familiar warmth. It features notes of fresh bread, cocoa, labdanum, rose, nutmeg and sweet orange.
- I Broke My Own Heart - A floral fruity gourmand fragrance that launched in 2022. Created by Alie Kiral, this fragrance reminds us of the early 2000’s era of communication - instant messenger, chat rooms, and late nights gossiping at slumber parties. I Broke My Own Heart will unlock a specific memory for many, and evoke a time that many emulate now. It's an homage to the gourmand scent trend while taking it to a more daring and animalic place for the grown-ups we’ve been forced to become. This fragrance is a moody love spell to comfort any broken heart. Smelling like hot cocoa, your favorite sweatshirt and a bit of leftover teen angst, I Broke My Own Heart features notes of petit grain, toasted coconut, jasmine, seaweed and sandalwood. It is an eau de parfum, edp.
- I'll Never Learn - It is a leather fragrance that launched in 2023. Created by Alie Kiral and Michael Nordstrand (Mythologist), this fragrance goes out to everyone who always falls for the bad ones… ‘I’ll Never Learn’ by the Shangri-Las is a timeless song about the nature of young love - at once familiar and sweet, with some uncertainty and possible darkness lurking beneath. This fragrance opens with bubbly bergamot and wisps of candied violet, toying with a love affair between geranium amd orris, and drying down to a moss-covered suede. I'll Never Learn was originally a limited release, but joined Pearfat’s permanent collection. It is a suede fougere that smells like wisps of evening violet fog, your date’s suede jacket and the chill of heartbreak. With notes of bergamot, lavender mist, candied violet, geranium, orris, suede and moss.
- Kewpie Doll - This is a scent about family - about being an Italian American woman. The idea of the fragrance came from the perfumer's scent memories of relaxing on the back porch of her grandmother’s house while she made way too much food - her tomato plants, the flowers, and the warm wood to stretch out on for a summer nap. The name of the fragrance is a nod to the future of the perfumer's family - her adorable niece Wren, with cheeks like a kewpie. Kewpie Doll is a crisp green floral that smells like rosy cheeks, Nana's back porch, sun-streaked tomato plants and a new doll. It features notes of sweet basil, vinyl, Calabrian bergamot, summer blooms and tomato leaf.
- Multiball - A woody aromatic that launched in 2023. Created by Alie Kiral to celebrate Pearfat's first anniversary, she wanted to create an ode to the thrill of pinball as arcades are her happy place. So grab an ice cold glass bottle of cola and shimmy up to your favorite game as you enjoy the fragrance of the sticky sweet waxed floors of an arcade; bells and chimes signaling your high score, and a sip of cola. Multiball features notes of lime cola, patchouli, sparking metal and waxy cedarwood.
- Stomped on Bed of Lettuce - Inspired by the 1966 film, Daisies - the world is spoiled, so perhaps we should be, too. Capturing the vivid palette of the film’s colors, the chaotic spirit of Marie #1 and Marie #2 eating and pranking their way through life, and the anarchic femininity that Daisies represents, Stomped on Bed of Lettuce is metallic green fragrance for schemers. It smells like sneaking through sun-warmed grass, gleefully crashing a party and body heat while dancing with your best friend. It features notes of pineapple, rhubarb, grapefruit, patchouli, frankicense, civet, oakmoss and saltwater.
- Up North - Ask a Michigander where they’re spending a holiday weekend– 9 out of 10 times they’re going “up north”. This summer fragrance is a love letter to Lake Michigan. Wear this to transport yourself to the top of a sand dune. Up North smells like climbing up a sand dune, the swaying of a willow tree, finding a petoskey stone, napping in a hammock. It is an ozonic aquatic green fragrance with notes of lemonade, lake water, trillium blooms and willow trees.
