Au Vieux Paris was created by Joelle Nealy. It is the fragrance of a cozy cafe filled with the scents of rich, roasted coffee, buttery pastries and polished wood tables; the sound of distant church bells and the memory of church incense and ancient cobblestone streets. It is a water-based fragrance mist.
Reddit: There was a LOT of butter when sniffed in the vial, which made me nervous, but Au Vieux Paris really blooms on the skin, and isn't nearly so butter-forward. I have no idea what the "distant church bells" in the notes description is supposed to signify, and for anybody worried about the stone note (Poesie's can sometimes wax quite mineralic), I don't get any here. I really hope Poesie continues this trend of atmospheric coffee shop scents; it's a vibe in which they truly excel.
Reddit: With this scent I get a buttery pastry note, the coffee note is smooth and flows nicely with the church incense. Speaking of the church incense, this is a very slight incense scent, more akin to the scene the description paints. It’s a “memory”. The butter pastry is in front of you, the coffee steaming idly by, the deeper notes are slight and more of a wafting over, or as it suggests a memory. However, I do think it adds some depth and richness and I find that more appealing in some ways than a straight pastry perfume. If you are a fan of pastry notes in perfumes, this one is really delectable and buttery. I find gourmand perfumes like these really cozy, and they’re my favorite to wear before bed. This is such a pretty perfume. My first thought when I got my nose on this was “Poesie makes such pretty perfumes”. I feel they can take a lot of prompts and give them their most idealistic fragrant reality. Another perfumer may go in more heavy with the incense, or the cobblestone streets, but here it’s very soft. Everything is gentle, like a dream.
