From the scintillating Hall of Mirrors to her exquisitely decorated State Apartments, at Versailles Marie Antoinette was the glittering queen of France. Buttery golden cake and fluffy vanilla citrus icing are scandalously decadent while heady orange blossom nods to the famous Versailles Orangerie. With notes of golden cake, intoxicating orange blossom, fluffy vanilla citrus icing and blood orange.
Fragrantica: Ohhhhhh this is dreamy! I absolutely love it, it’s soft seductive and edible. I don’t get the lemon or blood orange so much as I get a beautiful orange blossom. I was afraid this was going to be a citrus bomb and it’s really not. The vanilla, cake and orange blossom combine to create this soft fluffy cloud of gourmand heaven, this is like the more natural oil version of D&G Pour Femme. I only wish it was 10x stronger, it’s a little on the softer side but I’m hoping for good longevity. Poesie’s vanilla is fantastic!
Fragrantica: Lemon cupcake with vanilla frosting. I got a few samples from this house, and sniffed Versailles without any knowledge of the notes. The name's connotations could go a few different ways, and this Versailles is Marie Antoinette - not the historical figure, but Kirsten Dunst in Sophia Coppola's playful 2006 interpretation. Like that film, this is a frilly confection, a sugar rush of a scent that's light on substance and too cheerful to outright dislike. If you want to smell like a lemon cupcake, this will get the job done.
Fragrantica: This is one of those ultra realistic scents that Poesie makes. It's yellow cake with orange and vanilla, plus a bouquet of orange blossoms and honeysuckle next to the plate. I can't wait to wear this to work on a Monday and be the happiest, best-smelling person in the office. After applying to skin: the scent stays true to the above description, but my skin amps up the orange - which smells like candied orange peel and orange juice together. Who would wear this? Anyone who enjoys smelling like oranges and cake! This is a summery gourmand - I like it! I don't find it cloying at all thanks to the citrus.
