Dana Tabu EDC is part of the amber floral fragrance group. The first fragrance release from Dana was Tabu which was created in 1932 by Jean Carles. History has it that Javier Sera, founder of the Spanish house of Dana, instructed him to create a perfume that a prostitute/whore would wear (‘un parfum de puta’). Tabu is a sensual, luscious oriental floral fragrance.
Tabu was discontinued sometime in the 1970s and revived in 1977. It was reformulated by Sophia Grojsman of IFF with modern ingredients and repackaged in 2001. Tabu has remained a favorite of women of all ages since its inception. The vintage version of Tabu is just exquisite, full of spices and resins, flowers, woods and a good dose of civet. It has two different sides – one with spicy floral and patchouli notes and the other with civet, labdanum and musk. Tabu is actually quite good on a man as well.
Other slogans:
- "The longest kiss in history".
- "When Tabu becomes a part of you, you become apart from all others."
- "Things don't happen the way they used to. But they still happen."
- "If you want to inspire something lasting, do it with something that lasts. Tabu. The lasting fragrance."
Interesting to note, is that Tabu is part of the Smithsonian's collection of cosmetics and personal care products displayed at the National Museum of American History.
The 1997 version of Tabu is still available today.
This is the original eau de cologne version of the fragrance.
