Dior Diorling is an elegant leather Chypre fragrance for women that was created by Paul Vacher during the golden age for chypre fragrances (1950-1960s) in 1963. You can smell the leather in the opening which is joined by a beautiful white floral heart which stays with the fragrance for many hours and finalizes as a beautiful blend of oakmoss, patchouli, vetiver and leather. The leather note is more like a suede so it is a bit more boho than classically prim and chic.
Notes of hyacinth, bergamot, iris, jasmine, rose, lily of the valley, vetiver, musk, patchouli, oakmoss and leather.
In 2012 Dior released a re-edition of Diorling as part of the collection Les Creations de Monsieur Dior.
This is the original eau de cologne version of the fragrance with the black and white houndstooth checked bottle design on the label.
From Now Smell This - "On first spritz of the vintage Diorling, I smell strong, elegant leather, like unwrapping the tissue around a pair of new stilettos with an orange flower blossom, stem attached, stuffed in each toe."
From Basenotes - "First spritz and yeah, it's old school in a big way with a large barnyard accord. I love this facet of old perfume making. I find the juxtaposition of opposing notes makes everything just a bit "more". Then there's a weird yeasty/floral period, then leather, or rather an interpretation of leather which is also what I find Bandit to be. "
From Makeup Alley - " I thought Diorling would be another chypre tiger coming out to bite my hand but instead it is the most lovely polished leather scent. I just want to keep re-applying it to my arm! Diorling took me back to childhood and my grandparents who always had Cadillac cars (hey- I'm from the South). Diorling smells just like their Cadillac's leather interior which I loved as a child."
