Guy Laroche Fidji isn’t a tropical fragrance like the name depicts. Created by Josephine Catapano in 1966, it is a floral green fragrance that is very feminine and leaves a subtle musky trail on the skin. Rather than being overtly tropical it gives you the feeling of paradise – like you are lying on the beach and an island breeze is wafting all kinds of tropical flowers towards you. Josephine Catapano felt that Fidji was a modern version of L'Air du Temps.
By 2001, L'Oreal (who owned Guy Laroche) had discontinued Fidji, but relaunched it in 2003 because of its vocal fan base. However, as with most retro fragrances, it was reformulated and just not as good.
Fidji is still available for purchase.
This is the original eau de toilette version of the fragrance.
