RETRO - Jovan Lily of the Valley Eau de Cologne
Year Introduced: 1974 - Feminine
Notes: Lily of the valley
Lily of the Valley was part of a set of four fragrances called The Classic Florals that included Modern Flowers, Oriental Flowers and Lilac. Jovan's description of the line was: Offer a young girl flowers and she'll want the whole arrangement. Soft-petalled Lily of the Valley for shy dreamy days. Wet, fresh-faced Lilac for wide-eyed innocent days. Full-bodied Modern Flowers for bright, sunshiny days. Oriental Flowers for when she's feeling sultry. Each ones come in an Eau de Cologne Spray mist as pretty as it is fragrant. The matching essences must have been added to the line at a later time.
Lily of the Valley is a dewy and gorgeous cologne that was created in the 1970s when lily of the valley was a very popular fragrance note. The quintessential spring flower, lily of the valley appeared in a lot of fragrances and blended very well with musk.
Lily of the Valley has been discontinued. I'm not sure when but I see that Jovan had "The Classic Florals" as a Word Mark from 4/27/76 until 09/21/82.
We are decanting from an unopened, boxed bottle of the eau de cologne version of this fragrance, Reorder JF-101. This is the original packaging (3 oz.) that appears in a 1975 booklet that I have which Jovan sent to stores that wanted to carry their fragrances. These are not the smaller 1 oz. bottles that you usually see on eBay along with the small bottles of essence which were released at a later date.
