Ralph Lauren Lauren is one of the first two perfumes by Ralph Lauren and his first perfume for women. Created by Bernard Chant, Lauren was one of the greatest American perfumes and it made a big splash in the 1980s. It is a great example of how delightful the marriage of flowers and fruit can be. Very sparkling and refreshing, it features floral notes, spices and woods which makes it very feminine and elegant, yet very earthy. Top Notes: Orange, Pineapple, Tarragon, Petitgrain, Marigold, Galbanum, Rosewood; Heart Notes: Bulgarian rose, Violet, Lilac, Jasmine, Lily of the valley, Cyclamen, Daffodil, Clove; Base notes: Cedarwood, Oakmoss, Sandalwood, Vetiver, Carnation.
Lauren is still available for purchase in a reformulated version that is, well, pretty much not like the original at all.
This is the original Warner version of the fragrance from the 70s. This version is the one that most people believe is the best.
Fragrantica - "My sister gifted me my first Lauren back in high school and I have never done without it. The scent is like wearing a classic silk blouse with jeans and strappy nude sandals. The green scent gives way to a clean, soapy scent that stays right next to your skin. It's not a fussy, busy perfume but rather an understated accessory that completes your outfit."
Fragrantica - "this perfume causes so much nostalgia...i think of sneaking into my moms bedroom, trying on her heels and spraying this. absolutely timeless, sensual female fragrance. i usually only like modern fragrances but this is an exception"
Fragrantica - "In the 80s, in my hometown, there was a fancy women's clothing boutique that sold Ralph Lauren clothes, handbags and perfumes. The air in the boutique was suffused with Lauren, and to me it was the epitome of everything desirable and luxe. I saved my pennies from my grocery-bagger job to buy a blackwatch plaid speedy handbag [which I still own] and a little bottle of Lauren. I was SO happy. Since then I've bought two more bottles, both vintage formulations, and when my current bottle runs out I will buy another. I adore the stuff."
Fragrantica - "Found vintage bottle on eBay and completely lucked out. It's exactly the same scent as I remember. It reminds me of cool weather and sunshine. It's bright and refreshing to me, with a beautiful "cold", bright, woodsy, green, very unique scent that seems like perfection!"
Fragrantica - "The Lauren of old was a timeless beauty, just like the gorgeous model they had in her riding suit for the commercials. Miss that old gal and would certainly wear it again."
