Revlon Scoundrel was released in 1980 (the perfumer is not credited) and has long been discontinued, so this is a true vintage find from the Joan Collins era. It features notes of aldehydes, marigold, pineapple, artemisia, bergamot, mint, tuberose, mimosa, hyacinth, jasmine, peach, rose, cyclamen, lily of the valley, oakmoss, cypress, Virginia cedar, raspberry and musk. These samples are decanted from vintage Revlon Scoundrel Concentrated Cologne.
From one of their ads - "Seize the moment. ... A brave and a beautiful new spirit in fragrance."
Fragrantica - "...Make no mistake: This is a mossy, soapy, bone-dry floral chypre—ain't nothin' sweet about it. Think Ivoire de Balmain, only heavier on the raspberry. Comfortably unisex. Strong but not overpowering sillage."
Fragrantica - "This is a 1980's take on aldehydes. Scoundrel isn't modern or classic or timeless. It's a visit to the '80s - big shoulder pads, big hair, big perfumes. ... Weirdly enough, it all works. Sure it's huge and you want to be light on the trigger, but it's great."
Fragrantica - "Aldehyde heaven in a bottle!!! The main notes are tuberose and hyacinth. The rest supports the leading role. ..."
Fragrantica - "...Scoundrel goes on with a bitter green soapy blast. I can practically taste the wormwood. ..."
Fragrantica - "...This is a huge, powerful floral, not very aldehydic or spicy to me. The florals are strong and slightly bitter, and the jasmine a bit indolic. ... A drop of this fills the room, and its a cologne concentrate. ..."
Fragrantica - "...the bottle I got packed a whallop! I could smell Scoundrel even before I opened the package... it permeated EVERYTHING, like a closet sachet on steroids. ..."
Fragrantica - "...To me it smells of the 1970s and I just love it. Perfumes were so different back then. This is a real winner."
