Strangers Parfumerie is a Thai perfume house that was founded by Prin Lomros in 2017 and inspired by his favorite memories, films and music. It is an experimental brand that offers uniquely composed, surprising scents that are both delightfully creative and supremely wearable. As well as being a trained perfumer, Lomros also teaches film making in a university in Bangkok. In addition to Strangers Parfumerie, he also launched Pryn Parfum (2016) and Parfum Prissana (2017) and created Bat and Sloth for Zoologist Perfumes. His perfumes are reflections of beautiful landscapes, dramatic stories and romantic characters.
Based on the Tani banana, Sweet Tani celebrates the Tani banana tree which grows deep in the lush Thailand forest. It rises with quiet majesty and unlike ordinary banana trees, the Tani banana has long been considered sacred, a living emblem of abundance, protection and reverence. This fragrance captures the sacred essence of the banana while celebrating the culinary heritage of southern Thailand. It evokes the aroma of beloved Thai desserts made from the fruit and leaves, where the sweet scent of ripe banana blends with the creamy richness of coconut milk, coconut pulp, and coconut nectar and the fresh, green notes of pandan leaves and dried banana leaves. Sweet Tani conjures the sensory experience of desserts such as khanom kluay (steamed banana cake), kluay cheuam (banana in syrup), kluay ping (grilled banana), kluay buat chi (banana in coconut milk), and baked banana with honey. LuckyScent: "It's absolutely gorgeous. Tropical and somehow soothing. Very hard to describe, but I get a creamy coconut that doesn't seem artificial at all. There is definitely a base of vanilla and gentle honey that is present. I won't say this is a banana scent, but I can smell the banana leaves, giving a hint of green. I can't wait to wear this for summer."
Fragrantica: "Opens with banana candy (love) and then the cinnamon note takes over and I get spiced cookie with a whisper of banana bread after a few hours it really fades down into a sweet- toasted nutty scent that makes me think of the Nutty Bavarian candied pecans you used to be able to get at a kiosk in the mall. overall: I like it but I’m not sure it’s something I’d reach for especially in the heat, I could see myself loving this in cool weather when I want to smell like a cozy and warm. I am disappointed in the lack of banana/ how little that candyesque smell lasts because it is my favorite part of this scent journey with this perfume."
Fragrantica: "You know, for something with three coconut notes I really expected this to lean heavily in that direction.. but I cannot smell coconut at all. What I do smell is banana. Specifically those little marshmallowy, spongey banana candies you get in cornerstore assorted candy cups. It is a really good smell! Just not what I was expecting whatsoever. The closest comparison I can think of is a banana boba tea with coconut jelly, where you know the coconut is technically there but the banana completely steals the show. Or maybe a smoothie where the banana overpowers every other ingredient you put into it. You get hints that something else is happening in the background, but banana is undeniably the main character. It is very banana-forward with a soft creaminess underneath it. Veryyyy sweet. I kept catching it on myself and thinking "wow, I actually really like this"."
Fragrantica: "I'm a big fan of the previous pandan perfumes from Strangers - I own and adore Sweet Farewell and then blind bought and love Sweet Celestials, so was eagerly awaiting this release as someone who loves tropical and banana scents. So I blind bought this one and have worn is around 4 times now. I really like it - I think it's close to love but I'm still trying to figure it out. Initially the banana foamy sweet smell is very prominently there, slightly sweet, a little green but creamy and yummy. This rounds out to something toasty and sweet, almost bready/doughy in nature - if you know the toasty pandan note in Sweet Farewell, it's like that but less overtly coconutty. It's slightly creamy and lactonic and definitely quite a rich smell. In my first wearing there was a phase that I wasn't sure I liked but I think that's disappeared now, and I think it's the honey coming out. This is definitely dessert like and less light/airy than the previously mentioned scents, with a warm nutty kind of vibe. There is a floral background but I don't pick up the tuberose per se. I would say if you like Sweet Farewell and how toasty that is, and you like sweet and banana scents this is probably fairly safe for you - it genuinely is very reflective of the notes. In the dry down the banana isn't super obvious but mixes in with the rest to smell quite unique and kind of like a delicious banana bread with some cinnamon on top. Maybe this is a bit like Happy Nuts crossed with Nanatopia from BTSO? It's been ages since I smelt those but yes, I think this is similar. Performance is fairly moderate all round but I love wearing it and find it delicious, uplifting and intriguing, and can smell it on me for a good chunk of the wear. I think this could be too cloying in summer but for spring and autumn this is perfect."
