Indie Scent Library: Oh, heck yes. This should be the official scent of the South, because it’s perfection. The magnolia is strong and sweet, but kept in check by the dirt/damp headstones. This smells exactly like a cemetery in Charleston– walking under giant live oak trees heavy with moss, looking at headstones from 300 years ago, all while smelling gorgeous flowers that were left on the graves.
Reddit: Spiced green florals and dirt. I don’t know if “spiced” is the right word, but that’s what I’ve got - it’s somewhat peppery. Starts off a bit astringent but that burns off pretty quick. Very green with wet stone appearing after a few minutes. An atmospheric clean green scent. There’s a danger in this type going soapy but that isn’t happening on me this time, which is a nice surprise.
Reddit: Magnolia! Lots of fresh realistic magnolia, down to the leafiness of the tree itself! I also definitely get the airy greenness of cypress tree and an overall wateriness that is really lovely. I can get a sense for the dirt really deep under it all, but it's very subtle and more like damp loam adding to the atmospheric quality. I really like this one, may spring for a full size!
Reddit: Right off, this is a really nice floral. Not too heavy, not too light, goldilocks territory. I swear I'm getting lilac? Probably lily or magnolia, what do I know. It stays really fresh and light throughout wear. It veered very slightly into soapy for like two seconds and then course corrected. Not headachy! It's a bit more grounded than a lot of florals I've tried, which is really nice. I do wish there was more dirt though, I absolutely adore their dirt note. But, this is perhaps my favorite floral scent I've ever tried. Decent throw, average longevity. Overall- a spring day at the Sara Duke Gardens, standing by the pond covered in huge lily pads and surrounded by spring blooms and fresh air.
Reddit: Wow this is a stunner - I will most likely FS this! The magnolia sings here. Very realistic and floral - not the quiet lemony magnolia, but a big blooming flower. This is giving me Anne Rice’s New Orleans. If I could give Anne Rice a perfume this would be it! The green and stone is very much in the background which I appreciate because even though I like petrichor, I wear florals more. Really beautiful scent! Concrete Angel is a true Southern Floral. The initial blast is strong - but it does fade quickly. I'm wondering if this is one that I'd need to like, spray on a cotton ball and keep in my bra (isn't that a trick? haven't done it).
