Thin Wild Mercury Girl of the Year was released in 2023. Created by Cathleen Cardinali, it has notes of lipstick, incense, smoker's leather jacket, sandalwood, orris root and vintage fur. Thin Wild Mercury Girl of the Year is an EDP Eau de Parfum.
From the Brand - "Girl of the Year is an exploration into the private enclaves of the woman, off film, away from parties, protected from the flash of the camera. It is the quiet moments between calls and engagements, the space reserved for nestling into your memories. Artifacts of a life being lived populate your space, untidy and endearing: the leather jacket left behind by a lover lazily draped on the sofa, your vanity clumsy with perfumes and jewelry, the littered ashtray on your windowsill. Every article of clothing and tube of lipstick a talisman of self expression and protection becomes a souvenir of the moment, iconic of an era. From the solitude of your dressing table, you stare at your reflection with no one else to see. The phone rings."
Fragrantica - "This fragrance does open very clinical, like a tube of lipstick, but the kind my mother wore in the 80’s when I rifled through her makeup. Impressive that anyone could get that right. Settles into a leathery and animalic tone that’s hard to ignore. Not a safe blind buy if you’re not into animalic fragrances. After a couple hours it fades into a really powdery and smoky sandalwood accord. I wish this had more projection and sillage, but perhaps that’s part of the art form, knowing not to overdo it. I’m quite in love with this little fragrance and it’s at a great price point, compared to another similar animalic fragrance I was considering for purchase. This is very unique and hard to describe! This smells exactly like Sandy from Grease when she turned into a hot and badass chick at the carnival."
Fragrantica - "The smell of Frederic Malles Lipstick Rose on a leather jacket of some who just left a night club."
Fragrantica - "The lipstick note in this is absolutely beautiful and exactly what I was craving. On me, the fragrance turns more whisky/boozy and I wish it smelled like the initial spray the whole time. It is unique and I adore it. "
Fragrantica - " I kept getting whiffs of it on my pillow and it made me feel jealous, like what other woman has been in my bed?! Phenomenally sultry but in a delicate, but not in a precious way. Oozes confidence, but doesn’t overpower."
Fragrantica - "The first spray is spicy, a little fruity, but very quickly dries down into a sexy, animalic, powdery incense. I’m obsessed, but I can absolutely see why it can be polarizing. Got one comment saying it smelled like dill pickle (probably the spice?), so it’ll really depend on who’s smelling."
