Description

Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille is one of the original 12 released in the Private Blend line of fragrances. Tobacco Vanille is one of the line's best-sellers; it is a smooth oriental fragrance. The comfort of warm, sweet spices wrapping you in the long-lasting arms of tobacco, tonka bean, vanilla and cacao, just like your favorite blanket warming you on a cold winter day.

Reviews of Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille

From Kafkaesque - "The gentleman’s library is now serving pure rum, expensive dark chocolates filled with liqueur, and slightly fruited pipe tobacco. A butler brings in Christmas Plum Pudding with a white rum sauce that he sets discreetly to the side, as the gentlemen talk business and smoke away in their club chairs. It’s utterly lovely, either way."

From Best Cologne for Men - "has the delicious reek of decadence: the self-indulgent, carcinogenic herbal whiff of tobacco leaves, the caries-inducing sugariness of a rich bowl of crème anglaise..."

From Influenster - Tobacco Vanille is one of the staples and arguably the most classic / iconic of the collection. I would probably not recommend this as someone’s first introduction to Tom Ford, however, as it is quite strong which can be jarring for someone who is used to toilettes and not parfums. The scent will last all day even with a single spray!

Reminds me of clove cigarettes in the best way!

The vanilla and tobacco notes are well-defined but there is also an unexpected brightness to this scent. It reminds me of sitting outside my college dorm on a mild but brisk day, with the smell of clove cigarettes in the air and dappled sunlight shining through the trees. That image alone makes me love it. Sillage is disappointing, but otherwise, it's a winner.

    Tobacco Vanilla

Tobacco Vanille is very medicinal and lacks any of the sweet, rich pipe-tobacco/vanilla cookie vibe you'd think you might get based on the name. When my wife smelled it on me, she said it reminded her of cough syrup. I thought the same thing. Not until several hours later can you pick up on any of the scent's namesake, and even then, it's not at all what you'll be expecting. If you're looking for a rich, tobacco smell, there are better choices, especially at the price.

    Sweet Tobacco

5 stars for me. But unfortunately, only 2 stars from my wife, who thinks it smells feminine, saying “It’s identical to a perfume my mom wore when I was a child”. I happen to love the tobacco base with a touch of sweetness, but apparently it’s making my wife think of things I didn’t have in mind. Definitely give it a try.

    Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille

Searched around on internet to find the best price for samples and this was the best by far. Quick shipment! The real deal for the cologne. I love that I can sample a scent for more than just one spray from the department store. It give me the chance to wear it many times before committing to a high priced bottle. Thanks!!

    Love!!!

I like big, white flower bomb and normally steer clear from oriental. But, I LOVE Tobacco Vanille! It is rich, warm, lushes and wearable. It smells like dried fruit soaked in vanilla, but not cloyingly sweet. I also smell tobacco and chocolate. Never thought I would wear it out and about, but I did! And gladly will buy a full bottle!

    Gorgeous sweet tobacco

I usually go for natural perfumes, or indie perfumes. I like simple scents that are true the notes and where I can pick out individual notes. I also much prefer perfume oils. However, like any real lover of fragrance, I've branched out, and because I have been trying to find a scent that features a true tobacco note, I figured I better try this. And I love it! I have a bit of vanilla pipe tobacco at home, and it smells so like this! True tobacco scent--humidor fresh tobacco, though it is more pipe tobacco to my nose than cigars. And the vanilla just is part of it. I was worried this would go too sweet on me, but it does not. Which does not mean this is not a sweet scent: it does tend toward that, with vanilla, tonka, cocoa. It may be too sweet for those who don't like any sweet notes. Overall, I love this: sweet tobacco, a simple, comforting scent.

    Not as hoped

Surprising miss for me. This read very well in reviews, but it reminded me of a heavy and dusty bowl of potpourri.

    Nice, different

Others here have described this far better than I would be able to. Just wanted to add my opinion as someone who's tried tons of Tom Ford fragrances, and at least 10 of his private blends. I've been disappointed with most of the PBs, especially the lighter options in the blue bottles. Unlike some other PB's, Tobacco Vanille has good sillage, good projection, lasts all day, and is not so light and close. Large presence, you know it's there. It's perfectly unisex and deliciously warm and nostalgic. True to its name, it is mellow vanilla cigars, pipe tobacco, smoking and cognac or honey bourbon. I think it's gorgeous, I don't prefer to wear unisexes that lean too masculine, and this doesn't on me. I finished my small decant and ordered a larger roller ball decant.

    Eh

You can tell it is a Tom Ford scent from first sniff, good quality, a very middle eastern vibe, but it just wasn't what I expected after all the hype. I much prefer similar scents from Lutens or Diptyque. Definitely give it a try if you're a fan of TF Sahara Noir, or other incensey-tobacco frags.

    Smells different than I imagined

This is a more unique fragrance in comparison to many other tobacco inspired fragrances I would say. It has some sweetness to it, but instead of being more of a sweetened or smooth tobacco like a nice cigar that I envisioned, it has a bit more of maybe a very mildly spicy anise feel to it.

    Great Warm Winter Scent

Smells great but even better when it sits. Strong cinnamon and vanilla at first then calms down to a warm honey cinnamon. Definitely in my top 5 fav.

    Unexpectedly not good...

I had high hopes for this one, which were dashed to a great extent once I got this home and on myself. In the bottle, it smells toxic (not in a good way), and on my skin, it smelled toxic too. Kind of reminded me of a pyromaniac who had raided the local library! The tobacco smells more like smoke from a bonfire rather than tobacco. I couldn't smell the vanilla at all. This is just toxic chemicals and outdoor smoke. The drydown is marginally better. Thankfully, I only got a 1mL sample of this.

Great for the first 15 minutes

When I first dapped this on, I was immediately in love and started thinking that maybe I needed a full bottle. It was spicy and amazing. But after about 15 minutes, the spices started to go away, and a faint play-doh smell kicked in. Before the first hour was up, all I could smell was the play-doh. But almost all vanilla perfumes smell like play-doh on me, the only one that doesn't is Serge Luten's Un Bois Vanille. That smells like what this one is named.

    Amazing

I love this scent! I'm impressed at the longevity of the scent. On my skin, I didn't get very much vanilla, it was much more tobacco. When trying to describe it to somebody, I told them it was like smoking expensive cigars in the library while wearing a leather jacket.

    Tobacco Vanille, Wow!

I didn't know what to expect. But, I sure wasn't ready for this wonderful surprise. The smell I've been waiting for such a long time. I felt like I put my face into a pipe tobacco pouch. I got many compliments. I wished it had just a hint of cherry flavor.

Tobacco Vanille, Best of the Best

I have always loves the smell of pipe tobacco but never imagined I could find a scent similar that I could wear. Tom Ford's Tobacco Vanille contains the distinguished man in a leather chair, legs crossed, slowly puffing away on his favorite pipe in front of a warm winter fire all wrapped up in a warm vanilla and slight chocolate aroma. This scent can be worn by either sex and takes on a different personality on each. I absolutely love this fragrance and have told everyone this is the special present to get for me. It lasts all day and just. Little goes a long way. Every time I wear it I get stopped at least 10 times that day with questions about and compliments for Tobacco Vanille. It is worth every penny!!!!

    a mint bomb

I can easily see why this fragrance is so well thought of. It is rich and interesting, with one of the most beautiful drydowns out there. But for me the overwhelming mint note at the beginning, middle and even more faintly at the end is the deal-breaker. I don't like it at all, and it ruins the fragrance for me. But I can imagine how someone who doesn't mind mint could love it.

    Unfortunate

A simple fragrance that smells good for awhile, soon revealing that it makes a better candle. This isn't it, but quality perfumery is still alive. :-)
