Description

VINTAGE - Coty A'Suma EDT

Year Introduced:  1934 - Feminine

Notes:   Top notes of bergamot, mint and camphor; middle notes of lavender, incense, tuberose and heliotrope; and base notes of sandalwood, leather, oak moss, patchouli, vanilla, tonka bean, civet and ambergris

A'Suma was launched in France in 1934 by Coty. It was jointly created by Francois Coty and Vincent Roubert. The sensuous oriental perfume was inspired by a mysterious moonlit tropical beach in Bali. It was also touted as "reckless", "strange", "languorous", "smoky", "luxurious", "rich", "intriguing", "mysterious", "sensuous", "alluring" and "entirely individual."

A'Suma was discontinued by 1957. We are decanting from an unopened bottle of the original eau de toilette version of this fragrance.

    Beautiful

I've been having fun sample some of the "oldies but goodies" for the past year or two. I read about A'Suma in Scent and Subversion, and was very pleased to see this fragrance available from STC. It is a beautiful fragrance, even if it seems like some of the top notes have fallen away. It is warm and spicy and powdery and very lovely. I have worn it 3-4 days at work and I'd catch little whiffs of spice and wood and powder and it just elevated my mood so much. I wish I could afford to sample the extrait version of it but alas! Not until I win the lottery. It seems like A'Suma will soon be utterly extinct unless a cache of it is discovered somewhere. I think I will have to get another little vial of the stuff: It's worth it.
