Description

This sampler gives you fragrances that celebrate the beautiful note of violet. According to Fragrantica, violet is a sweet, powdery, airy and dewy floral note. Perfume Society notes that although violet has been giving up its sweetness to perfumers since the time of early Arab perfumers, who perfected a technique for distilling the oil, it was Empress Marie Louise Bonaparte who really put Viola odorata on the scent-map, establishing the violet industry in Parma which thrives to this day. Violets were Napoleon’s favorite flowers. They smell soft, powdery and romantic, a little like iris, and are can be played up to create a very feminine fragrance. In 1893, chemists Tiemann & Kruger found a way to separate the aroma compounds in violets, which are known as ionones. Ionones and methyl ionones have been worked into almost every perfume worn today.

You will receive a 1ml sample of each of the fragrances in this sampler. You also have the option of choosing a larger size sampler.

  1. CB I Hate Perfume A Room With A View Water Perfume - This perfume captures the scent of the hills above Florence - the vineyards, the wild grass, the finocchio, the hot dusty Florentine earth. And of course a torrent of violets... This perfume was inspired by a passage toward the end of Chapter Six in one of the perfumer's favorite E M Forster novels.
  2. Freddie Albrighton BOYS EDP - A unisex floral, woody musk fragrance that was launched in 2021. It is playful and camp, naive but “now grown up”. It opens with a candied fizz of caramel-like strawberry, raspberry sherbet, cream soda and Parma violet dust. The fragrance is built around a violet accord, mixed with a little lipstick-like rose but cut right through the middle is a bitter, slightly smoked black leather and the vinyl-like aroma of latex (for just that little rebellious streak). A ton of 90’s-style white musks soften the entire perfume and keep the leather in check. A carefree throwback to teenage years, romance, and memories of “the night before”. BOYS features notes of strawberry, raspberry, violet, rose, leather, white musk and milk.
  3. Hermessence Violette Volynka EDT - A graceful blend of soft Volynka leather (soft-hatch-grained leather known for being waterproof that has a great story of it being found in a shipwreck perfectly preserved after two centuries in the ocean) and the sturdy little sweet violet (sourced from Tourrettes-sur-Loup in the Alpes-Maritimes department of France). With notes of leather and violet.
  4. Zara x Jo Loves Brulante Violette Parfum - Part of the Jo Malone Silent Flowers Collection which debuted in 2023, it celebrates the enchanting violet, a flower full of light. This bouquet of violets, freshened by the juicy fruity character of raspberry, blends with the magnetism of iris and the sophistication of moss. A carnal and intense elixir of feminine sensuality. Brulante Violette features top notes of magnolia, rosebuds and elemi resin; middle notes of violet leaf absolute, iris concrete and raspberry; and base notes of cedarwood, moss and white musk.
