Jo Malone, the perfumer behind the Jo Loves brand, has collaborated with Zara on another collection of eight fragrances called the Vibrant Cities Collection featuring fragrances inspired by fashion-forward cities. This particular collection was inspired by her desire to travel during this last year, which at one point we weren’t physically able to do, so Malone used scent as an escape. “This collection takes its inspiration from our return to the pioneering spirit of travel and the discovery of the vibrancy of life again,” said Malone in a press release.
Magnificently Dubai is part of the eight fragrance Vibrant Cities Collection that launched in 2021. “From sunrise to sunset, bathed in adventure.” — Jo Malone CBE, founder of Jo Loves. With notes of saffron, nutmeg and leather accords. Magnificently Dubai is an eau de parfum, edp.
Zara x Jo Loves Magnificently Dubai Reviews
Refinery29: A spicy, all-encompassing perfume — perfect for those who hate to blend in. At first spritz, the top notes are zesty and bright but on the skin it dries down to something warm, cozy and incredibly moreish. The mega mix of leather, clove and oud gives the scent a smoky edge akin to a bonfire but it's still subtly sweet, even after plenty of wear. One dab on my wrist lasted for hours on end compared to some of the luxury perfumes on my dressing table. I can't fault it and it's my new winter favourite.
Fragrantica: In a blind sniff test, you could never convince me this wasn't a luxurious niche fragrance. It transports me to a getaway at a 5 star hotel on a beach in Morocco with a sexy man, complete with extravagant meals, drinks, music, perhaps with a hookah lounge, and dancing during sunset. It is unique, rich, deep, warm, smoky and seductive. It has a prominent incense type feel to it and is very much middle Eastern with that rich and bright saffron. The subtle sweetness comes from the nutmeg and the leather, but it pulls almost like licorice. To my nose, it is slightly earthy, very spicy, and almost completely masculine. I LOVE it on my husband, but do not care for it at all on me. Perhaps if I layered it with a deep amber vanilla fragrance, I would enjoy it more on me. I feel this is good for ultra-warm summer evenings, and also in the fall. This is N O T a safe blind buy, trust me!!!!!!!!!! But is it good? Yes, if you can handle the seductive uniqueness & spicy masculinity of this fragrance.
Fragrantica: A really warm, cozy oud scent. I don't smell saffron or leather, but straight-up oud, mixed with a little bit of nutmeg or cardamom. The scent smells very expensive and refined, almost niche. Due to the strong oud scent, it is reminiscent of Montale and its Middle-Eastern luxurious vibe. Longevity and projection are really good as well. I can still smell it on my arm, even after washing it off.
