Description

Zoologist Bee was released in late 2019, created by Cristiano Canali.  Inspired by bees and their glorious honey, it is a fusion of the sweetness of honey with the gorgeous florals bees feast on to make it. It opens like a buzzing beehive of amazing sweet jellied sunshine!  It is a little spiced with ginger.  Then the main flower course arrives. It is rich and pungent. Not a big over the top white floral, because it is interlaced with honey and incense and some of the hive.

It's really a gorgeous creation from this very cool perfume house.  Now, not everything they create is very easy to wear  - eyeing Bat really hard - but Bee is definitely made to be worn and loved.

Honey can be a difficult note to love - Serge Lutens Miel de Bois can smell a little urine'ish.  Honey can smell that way often in perfume.  It is done expertly here, so if you are normally off honey perfumes, though you love the smell of honey, Bee may work amazingly well for you.

Notes of orange, ginger syrup, royal jelly accord, broom, heliotrope, mimosa, orange flower, benzoin, labdanum, musks, sandalwood, tonka, vanilla.  This is an extrait de parfum.

Reviews of Zoologist Bee

From Now Smell This - "Bee? He'd take you to the botanical gardens, on a house tour of a famous local author, to a Vivaldi concert at the cathedral, or to visit a good friend's farm where Anatolian shepherd dogs are bred (and puppies are waiting to be kissed)... Bee is boyish and down to earth."

From Take One Thing Off - "Have you ever been walking along the street and suddenly feel so good that you burst into a run? Zoologist Bee is that for me – a burst of positivity that settles on you like a blessing you don’t remember asking for. The perfume doesn’t seem to be particularly complicated, but the trick it performs is by no means simple; effortlessness, or at least the impression of it, always requires an invisible-to-the-naked-nose system of levers and pulleys operating under the surface. Perfumes exuding this sense of almost child-like glee are rare. I can count on one hand the number of fragrances so exuberantly good-smelling that you feel you’re the world’s Secret Santa."

From Reddit - "I much prefer a punch in the face of something dank and musky and perhaps that is why after my purchase of a honking bottle of the polarizing fecal smelling Hyrax, bee fluttered into my samples, daring me to give gourmands a go again. "I'm not like the other girls" she says to me. Indeed she is not. I sniff her all day from the bottle. she is so divinely sweet, she begs me to come so close to her that the bottle is practically down my nose. her sweetness doesn't repel me as it usually would." (this review is a work of art, you really ought to read it just for how great it is.... like Zoologist Bee!)

Fragrantica - "This smell is so addictive and haunting. To my nose, it is mostly waxy, as the notes above are stating. The honey takes a second place to the wax, with an animalic vibe. This is not your typical white florals covered with honey scent. Instead, the fragrance takes you to the actual hive and the bee environment, with some dry notes, some powder from the polen on the bee's feet and you can almost feel the energy of the hive and its mysterious ways. Beautiful, unusual fragrance."

Fragrantica - "Addictive. The more you wear it, the more you are addicted. Even if it was not a like on first trial. Surpasses any similar offering out there from Mamluk to Slowdive. The royal jelly accord combined with the florals here are truly one of a kind, never bordering on the animalic (indolic aspect of the honey note) that's what make Bee really outperform the rest. I personally am not a sweet-tooth in perfumes generally, but Bee really hooked me. Kudos, Cristiano Canali, you deserve a trophy for this stellar creation."

An excerpt From Zoologist

The spring day seems still and peaceful. Yet beneath the wildly splattered canvas of a blossom-strewn meadow, thousands engage in a desperate race for survival. Worker bees toil at a frantic pace, ferrying a precious cargo of nectar and pollen to deposit it within cramped honeycomb cells, where it will nurture drones and larvae under the eye of a regal queen. In the claustrophobic hive, a deafening buzz offers evidence of the bees' devotion to duty, not a single worker pausing to question its role in perpetual grind of life in the queendom.

Like the frantic hustle of the bee through a maze of multi-faceted scents, Zoologist Bee delivers a surreal experience. The rich aroma of honey captivates, while alluring florals, royal jelly, animalic beeswax and regal incense unite to create a buzz, offering excitement, and the sweet rewards of life.

    Lovely

This is beeswax, gingery, honey loveliness. The sort of scent you can't stop smelling on your wrist. I will be saving up to buy a full bottle.

Stunning honey scent with animalic elements

This fragrance is so gorgeous. It's drippy honey with a sort of resinous slightly dirty hive scent in the background that is very pleasant, not offputting at all. The animalics give this fragrance depth and life. I am totally in love with it. It reminds me of Auphorie's L'Anima della Rosa, without the rose note. You feel like you are smelling the whole beehive and the grass around it, along with the honey.
