Description

Clinique Aromatics Elixir is Clinique's iconic fragrance with notes of rose, jasmine, Ylang Ylang and vetiver.  This is the eau de parfum, EDP. Aromatics Elixir is a chypre floral scent made for women by Bernard Chant.

Fragrantica: "This one has grown on me. That opening of dry green and coriander so stripped of anything sweet - well it's sharp and almost off putting but now that I know what to expect... I dig it. The best part is the dry down and longer wear. It's incense and moss. Light floral. Light wood. Calming and lovely - very spa-like."

Fragrantica: "After a long day, I use scented bath gel, body lotion and a spritz or three of Aromatics Elixir. I cannot go to a spa every evening, but Aromatics Elixir surely helps. I always feel so relaxed, happy and grateful after my little evening ritual. It is reserved for the evening as such a strong, chypre, oakmoss, patchouli, incense and florals filled perfume is simply best enjoyed alone."

    Aromatics Elixir

    Thrilled with my purchases from Surrender to Chance! Tremendous selection and exceptional customer service from purchase to delivery. Very fast shipping as well. This rating is based on personal preference and not a judgement on the quality of the perfume. The opening is a blast of herbal tonics and green spice. The quintessential vintage chypre aroma that I associate with my grandma's perfumes. It's a camphoric, medicinal, vitaminy, aroma with rosemary, clove and sage. Objectively it is almost an herb garden-like fragrance with a zingy bitter freshness that is in direct contradiction to my nostalgic associations of vintage decor and older lady's luxuries. It keeps its character throughout the development in a linear fashion. Perhaps the vetiver comes through more pronounced and there is a musky note somewhat like bad breath. Although I can appreciate its uniqueness, balance and character, it's just not a fragrance I can enjoy. Reminds me of drinking an herbal tincture with a shot of gin (no sugar).

    Memories of the Past

    When Aromatics Elixir was first introduced, I was representing Clinique at a department store so I was sent a bottle. It was heady, herbal, woody, and so much stronger than the Chanel No. 5 I usually wore but I loved it. When I purchased a vial of vintage Aromatics from Surrender to Chance, I was in seventh heaven. It didn't smell like the re-constituted formula. Everything I had loved about this outrageous, knock-your-socks-off fragrance came flooding back. Wonderful. I soon ordered a spray because the first vial didn't last long with my constant usage. I couldn't believe how great it still smelled on my skin (unlike Chanel No. 5 and so many other fragrances now that I'd gotten older). Thank you for reminding me what I had forgotten and loved. Thank you for having vintage scents!
