Agar Olfactory Fragrance Coffret - Set of Five 1/2ml Samples

You will receive a set of five 1/2ml samples from the Agar Olfactory line of fragrances. Agar Olfactory is based in Chicago and is a project in speculative olfaction by Agustine Zegers. It imagines climate disaster and apocalyptic scenarios and the type of smell landscapes that would exist in such events.

These are all perfumes.

1. Matsu Musk - Matsu Musk is a speculative scent created in response to growing symbiotic processes between fungi and humans. It features notes of mushroom gills and skin. From their website: Year 2077: Humans have begun incorporating mycelium into their routines, diets, architectural structures, and medicinal systems in exponential ways. the increasingly abundant quantity of fungi in human bodies begins to create a communal bodily emanation uncannily similar to mushrooms. in the warm crevice of an armpit, you find a fruiting body. 
2. Damp - Damp is a speculative scent designed for a time when soil takes over abandoned anthropogenic structures. It is composed as a single molecule that is responsible for the majority of soil's smell. From their website: Year 3030: human extinction has allowed flora to propagate wildly, bursting through concrete and rigid architectural structures. the skin of the earth has restored itself to a microbially-dense state. soil bacteria celebrate wildly as rain showers dampen their surface. damp gives you a taste of this future; it’s a gentle whisper of a musty room in the middle of a forest, the breath of the earth as wet soil. Damp features notes of dampness, wet soil and earth.
3. Brood - Brood is a limited edition fragrance. From their website: Year 2024: cicada broods XIII and XIX overwhelm turtle island, leaving gaping holes in every patch of soil in the continent as they jubilantly emerge. they buzz uncontrollably, reveling in their most glorious reunion yet. when the party is over, they leave heaps of carcasses strewn on sidewalks and grass, pulling everyone into their unboundaried libations. Brood features notes of trampled grass, cicada carcass, tree bark and tree sap. 
4. ind.must.y - ind.must.y is a scent edition mapping the smellscape of the ICAVCU. It is a special limited edition fragrance; only 50 bottles were produced. It was produced through a collective mapping process for the exhibition Doing Language: Word Work. ind.must.y features notes of rubber, black tea, dampness, fennel, hydraulic oil, plywood and licorice. 
5. Bicho - Bicho is a speculative scent designed as a potent bug attractor, responding to a future where pollinators are increasingly treated by enfolding ecocides. From their website: year 2050: miniature electronic pollinators are buzzing around carrying bright pollen from stomata to stomata. you've begun to miss pests, creating trails of sugar to lure ants and hiding petals in your pockets for butterflies to find you. bicho is a tool just for that. it functions as an attractor of all kinds of bugs: wasps seeking the bum of a fig, beetles crowding around jasmine, and ants looking for the sweet sap of a leaf. wear at your own risk. Bicho features notes of crushed leaves, waspy figs, jasmine and camphor.
