Amouage Memoir Woman is one of the creations of Amouage artistic director, Christopher Chong. Amouage Memoir Woman explores the spaces between men and women, centered around the absinthe note. Amouage Memoir Woman is classified as a leather animal chypre, which should scare you if you have some sense. It opens on maximum stun, a Krazy Kwilt Perfume with sticky sweets, pepper, leather, with vague hints of absinthe wafting around making it slightly sinister - all of which defy that (remember!) leather animal chypre classifcation. Amouage scents often have that propensity, to shift around, not being anything you can pin down, except there is one thing they do exactly right - they smell great. And that is Amouage Memoir Woman's classification - crazy perfume that smells great. I refer to them as Monets - makes no sense up close, but pull your nose back a bit to get a better olfactory view on it, and then it all makes sense.

This transformation is enhanced by deconstructing the redolent Tuberose to its core and reassembling the note in a white floral accord with Lisylang and Orange Blossom. As Chong explains, “I wanted to create a haunting fragrance that is beyond the restriction of gender and one that is both hypnotic and bewitching. I articulate this aspect by increasing the dark wood accord with cashmeran, sandalwood and patchouli supported by an animalic accord in the base to neutralise the gender difference.”
