ANNA ZWORYKINA HOLD MY PIPE REVIEWS
Parfumo: "With Hold My Pipe, dosage makes a big difference. At one or two sprays, I get a lighter, more playful side: sweetish, fruity, perhaps even slightly floral tobacco, with some warm wood and smoke in the background. Created as a tribute to Sherlock Holmes, it does not feel like a heavy tobacco fragrance to me in that dosage, but rather a playful one. It always gives me the image of the usually serious Sherlock Holmes saying “Hold my pipe” before doing something crazy - in the spirit of “Hold my beer.” At three sprays or more, it becomes heavier, smokier, and much more atmospheric. It really turns into a Sherlock Holmes-like atmosphere in scent form. Very fitting for the story behind the fragrance: peat from the Grimpen Mire, smoke from Baskerville Hall’s fireplace, Lestrade’s still-smoking gun, the fruity tobacco blend from Sherlock’s pipe, plus sweet opium fumes, Tokay wine, and spices. In that form, it feels exactly like the fragrance was intended to: a dark Victorian detective scene in perfume form - smoky, atmospheric, tobacco-rich, slightly eerie, and very story-driven."
Parfumo: "Hold on, I don’t want to drop the pipe! Two puffs and I’ve already forgotten the time, the coniferous stove has already been lit, with the shotgun from hours or weeks ago. It’s like the Big Bang, it’s hardly audible anymore, yet the smell of gunpowder is still there, sneaking in tiny clouds where cinnamon stars shimmer, continuing through the small chamber. The forest edge has fallen through the window, hissing gentle camphor and citrus aromas from its spicy needles onto the glowing logs in the fireplace, sometimes flickering absinthe-cool colors, melting into reddish shimmering balm, dripping like glowing nectar from flowers onto the ash flakes in the flue. The scent could also be from the poppy that still smolders in the pipe in your hand. Dr. Pepper leans against the wall next to you, swinging the labdanum lantern, scattering tobacco light onto the moss and amber chair and the earthy carpet. According to Anna Zworykina, she creates olfactory landscapes from 100% natural materials. Her fragrances are moments captured, escape routes into dreams and fairy tales, connections to long-term memory, making the wearer a co-author of their stories. "Hold My Pipe" tells a peculiar episode from a fireplace-heated room on the edge of the forest. The virtuously woven micro-arrangement opens with an accord of gunpowder and cinnamon Peruvian balsam, resinous, mild-smoky, and spicy. Thyme and cardamom play a significant role, awakening the impression of coniferous wood with their green-spicy and citrus-eucalyptus-like aromas. Smoke, tar, and guaiac hold back, yet contribute to the atmosphere of a fireplace room where the gentle scent of the wood fire still lingers with a hint of ash. Labdanum and tobacco immerse the heart and base in an amber-like warmth, more woody-resinous, balsamic-spicy than sweet. Osmanthus and ylang add soft floral-fruity notes. In connection with the cinnamon, I felt somewhat reminded of Dr. Pepper during this phase. Nagarmotha and oak moss provide soft earthy elements, perfectly connected through the peat with the gentle-smoky as well as woody-spicy and balsamic notes. The world behind the poppy by the fireplace projects modestly for a good six hours."
Parfumo: "Campfire romance. Sitting cozily by the fire, on soft moss. Spices and herbs scent the air. Smoking a pipe, sipping wine."
