Description

Anna Zworykina is a Russian perfumer who creates hand-crafted perfumes exclusively of pure and natural essences. For almost 15 years she has been creating her perfumes only with essential oils, co2 extracts, absolutes and her own plant tinctures. She has over 500 natural ingredients in her perfumery palette and selects only the best quality perfumery materials in her fragrances. She uses no synthetic materials, no isolates, and no animal testing is done either by herself or any of her suppliers.

Anna's blends are natural only blends so they wear close to skin, quiet but excitingly complex upon a closer sniff. Young Cossack is an intense, smoky herbal blend that, like all of Anna's creations, will transport you to an imaginary landscape. It's inspired by Cossacks, the soldier-farmers who live in the steppes in the south of Russia, accomplished horsemen guarding the borders since the days of Catherine the Great. You can imagine a young Cossack resting among haystacks and wild herbs, smoking his clay pipe while contemplating the starry sky while his friends are sitting by the open fire nearby.

Wind From Mount Kailish is the coniferous bliss of a high altitude forest. The quiet whisper of centruries old giants conversing in their woody rustle language. For Hindus, Kailash is the home of the mountain god Shiva and a sign of his power symbol om. Legends say that Garuda was born on the top of the mountain to protect the men's race from disasters sent by the serpents' race of Nags. Wind From Mount Kailish has notes of absinthe, cedarwood, elemi, frankincense, gaiacwood, lavender, opoponax, oregano, sage and wormwood. The complete listing of notes is as follows: Juniper berry e.o., White sage e.o., Elemi e.o., Guaiacwood e.o., Bulgarian lavender e.o., Lavender, Lavender abs, Acacia farnesiana e.o., Boswellia carterii e.o., Himalayan Cedarwood e.o., Cistus e.o., Angelica root e.o., Oregano Onites e.o., Vetiver e.o. and Sweet myrrh e.o.

ANNA ZWORYKINA WIND FROM MOUNT KAILASH REVIEWS

Fragrantica: Coniferous elemi. I'm a sucker for elemi and here the sharp lemony-resinous, almost varnish-like elemi opening is to die for. It is the real focus for me, and it's done masterfully with all slightly sweet and spicy aspects stressed in the right proportions. Even the smoky-resinous nuances are stressed but not overwhelmed by incense and opoponax. However, this is not merely an elemi soliflore. It's a full-bodied perfume telling a story of a Buddhist temple in the Himalayas. You can easily picture a high altitude coniferous forest with a smell of incense, burning resins and aromatic herbs coming from a temple nearby. But for me, this is the picture of standing in a coniferous forest that just got cut down with air packed densely with the smell of amberwood resins coming off the freshly cut trees. This somehow feels like what DS Durga Bowmakers set its sights on conceptually but is done much better and with superior ingredients. It's easily my favourite of Anna's "Landscapes" line. Projection is apparently enormous (at least in the beginning, not sure if it stays this way). I sprayed it once on my wrist and my girlfriend said that she could smell a blast of it the second she opened the door to the apartment.

Fragrantica: Oregano, lavender, and wood/pine. A man in a flannel shirt and jeans returns to the cabin after chopping down pine trees. It's been a long afternoon, and the early September chill slices through the shower steam. He scrubs and scrubs, but the sap wont budge. He emerges from the shower, still smelling of pine and outdoors. That's how natural the notes are in this bottle. Although this particular perfume is not for me, I am a HUGE fan of this house and highly recommend it for the quality of ingredients and remarkable blending of notes.
