Description

Bois Sikar is a unisex woody spicy fragrance that launched in 2018. Created by Marie Salamagne, it has top notes of precious woods, guaiacwood and nutmeg; middle notes of Javanese vetiver, styrax and cedar leaf; and base notes of tobacco absolute, cypriol and incense. It is a metaphor for the nobility of the Gentleman's Club, defined by its distinct smoky notes. Founder Jean-Philippe’s  involvement in the cigar world meant that one day a perfume created around this theme would evolve. The inspiration is clear from the outset: cigars, cedarwood from cigar boxes, paired with Islay spirits and woody notes from the oak barrel. Bois Sikar is a beguiling smoky tobacco scent with robust woody tonalities swirling against the heady vapors. The unique, smoky, peaty character of Islay’s single malt spirit entwine with cedar leaf creating an intensely intoxicating fragrance. Arabesque smoke. Ambered tendrils. Calling vaporous souls. Soft, peaty flames. A sacred fire, arising. Intoxicating.

ATELIER DES ORS BOIS SIKAR REVIEWS

Fragrantica: Bois Sikar is an audacious fragrance for sure. I've been wearing this bold, smoky, and woody scent for a few days and it makes an impression. It is a high quality niche perfume and a splendid addition to the Atelier Des Ors - Black Collection. The initial spray reveals the unique character of Bois Sikar -- the smoke, cedar, and tobacco burst forward like cracking the door to a cigar bar filled with all the aromas rushing into your nostrils. It's not a smell to accentuate but an experience. BS is so well blended the strong notes invite you in and then confidently hand you a single malt whiskey neat. It's ballsy, unabashed, elegant, sophisticated, seductive... this stuff is great! It's a man's man scent that the ladies want you to smell like. One reviewer on LuckyScent stated, "People will love you or hate you." That's most likely true, but either way they will respect you. BS stands beside the other Atelier Des Ors: Black Caps in my collection, but he's so confident he'd securely stand alone. Finally, Bois Sikar has excellent performance: 10+ hours longevity with hours of strong projection. He will not disappoint! Also, BS garners numerous compliments and unsolicited statements as if others are compelled to acknowledge him.

Fragrantica: Anyone that enjoys a glass of Islay Scotch Whiskey will recognize the peat smoke in this one, that's what you get blasted with upon first spraying. Once this starts to settle in, you get the woods and dry tobacco. It really is a gorgeous scent, albeit a little daring. You also have to be into dry, woodsy, smoky masculine fragrances. Love this one!

Fragrantica: Opens up with a peaty, smoky dark scent - so a hasty review, without letting the perfume develop, would allude similarities to Beaufort London's Tonnerre or Bois d'Ascese. As soon as the top note dries down, it turns into a beautiful woody scent - a mix of nutmeg, gaiacwood and cedar. And for that reason alone, I think this is an artpiece. Contains woody notes but has that smoky top note - I wonder how Marie Salamagne achieved this! It has an slightly above average sillage, projection and longevity. Not too cloying, not too weak - just right for me. It's a 9/10 for me. Love!

LuckyScent: No one will ever forget you when you wear this perfume. It is so unusual and so striking that the best way to describe it is to quote the other reviewer here who said people will either love you or hate you. And the same goes for you. You will either fall in love forever with this delicious almost undescribable heady scent or never want to smell it again. Me, I am in love. Bois d'Ascese is perhaps a distant cousin but a wallflower next to Bois Sikar.

LuckyScent: What a seductive revelation! Dark, yet soft & smoky, you can feel yourself sink into a plush leather chesterfield cornered in a basement lounge with old wood furniture. Without veering into incense, this scent stays a pure soft grey throughout. Starts off strongly with peat and settles a few hours later into a gentle, lulling cedar smoke. A short burst of acridity popped briefly an hour after application but faded quickly and now is purring like a drowsy panther in a beautifully projected aura around me. I agree this scent is masculine, but I am sampling it as a woman and it is carnally wonderful. A female coworker of mine asked to smell it closer twice and pressed her nose against my wrist both times. I will be ordering the full size soon.
