BDK Parfums Velvet Tonka was released in 2021. Inspired the tonka bean and the home country of BDK's founder, David Benedek, Morocco. Tonka is a contrasting note - a little vanilla, a little almond, a little chocolate. Paired with orange blossom and almond, this is a richer, floral gourmand.
A rich floral unisex fragrance, it was created by Alexandra Carlin and has notes of almond, orange blossom, tobacco, rose, tonka, Madagascar vanillal, Amyris wood and amber woods. BDK Parfums Velvet Tonka is an EDP, eau de parfum.
Fragrantica - "It’s a warm marzipan, almond, tonka that literally smells of a pastry. It has similar vibes to Italica, without the milkiness and for a fraction of the price. The orange blossom, rose and tobacco are not detectable to the point you can pick the notes out, however they lay underneath giving you a different experience to other Tonka based scents. You can feel the floral touches that support... It’s the perfect intimate type of Tonka that would smell awesome on a cooler day with the wind blowing it around you."
Fragrantica - "I absolutely love, love, love this scent! To me, the juice quality smells like a gourmand that Xerjoff would make, which for me translates to easy to like, but beautiful and complex nonetheless."
Fragrantica: "This fragrance is such a delight. It’s super warm, creamy, soft and powdery. The orange blossom and rose note add a little more lightness and airinees to the fragrance. The almond note is really prominent to me and gives the fragrance a doughy texture, almost like a kind of almond/marzipan paste. Nevertheless, the fragrance is neither heavy nore too sweet. There is only a light sweetness from the vanilla, tonka bean and almond that is noticeable which means it’s not a sugary kind of sweet which can sometimes be sickening. Therefore, I find this fragrance to also be suitable for warmer weather. Velvet Tonka really never becomes cloying and can be worn all year round."
