Charmant
A so well balanced violette! Sweet but never too much. Absolument charmante.
Caron Aimez Moi was created by Dominique Ropion and launched in 1996, its inspiration was N'Aimez Que Moi, the Caron urn pure parfum which had been released in 1916 - World War I - for soldiers to give as a gift to the sweethearts they were leaving behind. Aimez Moi sings with violet, slightly spicy and smoky, without the traditional Caron base. This scent has great sillage that is not elevator-clearing and decent lasting time for most wearers. Aimez Moi means "love me" in French.
From Now Smell This - "The top notes are spicy, with deep notes of violet and anise. The anise fades slightly as it dries down, while the violet intensifies and is joined by the other floral notes, although I find it hard to pick them out individually other than the faintest bit of magnolia. The dry down is spicy and vanillic, with light notes of amber and musk. The traditional dark Caron undercurrent, which always smells slightly musty to me, is present, but is not as overwhelming as it is in some of the other scents in the line."
From Perfume Smellin' Things - "Funny how, when we all of a sudden fall in love with something or someone, all that bothered us about them before becomes either a wonderfully attractive feature or a cute quirk. Thus the burnt aspect of Aimez Moi is what I now like about it the most: the heavy cream of honeyed violets, peach, helotrope and tonka beans is generously spiced by cardamom, cloves and anise, and the piquant mix lends the composition a sweetly-smoky quality. To balance the fire with ice and to, simultaneously, underscore the chilly side of anise and cardamom, there is mint. The effect is complex; the composition develops slowly, at a sensual, leisurely pace. Unlike before, I now see anise not as a second most prominent note after violets, but as a beautifully balanced part of a hot-cold spicy accord. It does not bother me in the least, in fact, anisophobic as I am, I find it utterly delectable in the candied pudding of Aimez Moi. I tried the Ropion's creation in eau de toilette and found it, as with most of his perfumes, to be very rich and long-lasting, with the kind of sillage that I adore: the one that envelopes the wearer in the most delicate of gauze and is always present although never overwhelming. Aimez Moi is floral, gourmand, fruity, oriental... it is a multi-faceted golden and purple gem of a scent. It longs to be loved, and it is impossible not to love it."

At first I thought this smelled ‘granny’ but now I love it! I was wary of the anise since I hate black licorice but I think this note is actually why I love this. It’s a very beautiful, comforting scent and definitely won’t be my last Caron.
Despite the sweet and spicy notes, this actually feels like it would be great for spring and doesn't feel heavy like it might sound. It has both cool and warm notes. I am reminded of sparkling pears(my impression at the opening), ginger, black licorice, violets, and faint vanilla. I don't think I could identify any particular note without reading what they are, but it blends into something pleasant and interesting, slightly off-kilter. There's something that reminded me briefly in the first 15 min of ELDO's "Like This" which makes me queasy, so I was a bit nervous that this would do the same to me. But it dried down quite beautifully and smoothly. I can't speak to sillage from a small decant but it seemed to fade fairly quickly and stayed present for about 4 hours, so I would consider it more of a skin scent which is good for everyday wear. I will have to try it for a few days to see if I continue to love it. (I'm glad the name is in French because "Love Me" sounds a little pathetic).
Caron Aimez Moi is perfect - light, easy to wear!
