Cathedrals and churches around the world have a scent that is a mixture of old hymnals, candle wax, wooden furniture and lingering incense. If a church is made of stone they can also give off mineral and earthy odors as well. This sampler features fragrances that are inspired by or dedicated to cathedrals, churches or places of worship.
You will receive a 1/2ml sample (1ml sample vial filled half full) of each of the fragrances in this sampler.
- LizabeCo Cathedral Parfum - Cathedral takes you on a walk through the hallowed halls of an old gothic cathedral. Breathe in the remnants of smoky incense from masses long ago. With notes of frankincense, myrrh, rose, incense and oud.
- Side Story Sunday Service EDP - Sunday Service is an aromatic spicy fragrance that launched in 2022. Created by Jacques Chabert and Argeville, it is described on the website: As he slipped into the pew, he noted how soft the wood felt beneath his fingers, polished and worn from so many years of human touch. But the music was the same. The cool, oaky air of the church was the same. The smell—ageing paper, freshly mown grass—just the same. As much as time was hurtling by, it felt in the moment that nothing had changed. Slip into a quiet, contemplative reverie. A return to old surroundings, respectful tailoring, and formal introductions. The worn leather of an heirloom wallet touched by divinely feminine antique rose, enlivened by old-world pepper & spice and carried by the rich resin of ancient frankincense. The fragrance of a ponderous stroll in wildflower season at the golden hour. The essence of eyes gazing across a vast burnt saffron horizon, feet planted in the aged earth. Sunday Service features top notes of saffron and pepper; middle notes of rose and patchouli; and base notes of cistus labdanum, frankincense and gurjum balsam.
- Alkemia Gothique Perfume - The scent of midnight mass in a medieval cathedral. A Byzantine monastic incense recipe of Somalian frankincense, styrax benzoin, Arabian myrrh, cassia, spikenard, canella, Liquidambar orientalis, labdanum, Atlas cedar and vetiver.
- Black Baccara Midnight Mass Perfume Oil - This fragrance encapsulates the sacred and timeless atmosphere of a midnight mass on a winter evening. At the forefront of this composition is a frankincense and myrrh duet, lending an air of sacred solemnity to the blend. On the drydown, moss gently growing on ancient stones is revealed alongside several types of sandalwood, adding woody and earthy layers of depth and warmth. Church incense and the faintest hint of chalice wine, subtly weaves through the other notes, creating an intoxicating blend that evokes the rituals and traditions of the church interior. The background of this evocative blend also features nuances of candle wick, beeswax, and delicate tendrils of smoke to evoke memories of freshly extinguished candles. This unisex blend unfolds slowly, inviting you to experience the sensory richness of an olfactory mass. Aroma palette is smoky, incense, and resinous. Highlights include frankincense, myrrh, ancient moss, aged merlot, antique woods and extinguished candle wick.
- Lurker And Strange Sanctum Perfume Oil – Reminiscent of incense you would find in byzantine churches, both Orthodox and Catholic. With top notes of honey essence and sweet citrus; middle notes of Palo Santo, benzoin, labdanum; and bottom notes of frankincense, myrrh and sandalwood.
- Possets Midnight Mass at Old St. Mary’s Perfume Oil - The oldest church in Cincinnati is Old St. Mary's, built circa 1841. It is ornate, trimmed in every style you can think of, cold in the winter and filled with those who treasure the tradition of this wonderful ritual. This scent is a resinous incense blend, redolent with the polished wood of the pews, beeswax candles and offertory fruits.
