Description

Comme des Garcons Zagorsk is part of the Incense Series (3).  This series was launched in 2002 and is devoted to the five main spiritual teachings of humanity.  Each fragrance is named after a city that is significant to those teachings.  The city of Zagorsk is Orthodox Christianity and is composed of white incense, pine, pimento berries, violet, cedar, iris, hinoki wood, and birch wood. Named after a city in Russia, it is one of the most influential Orthodox/Christian cities in Russia.  It is an eau de toilette, edt, and was created by Evelyne Boulanger.

Comme des Garcons Zagorsk Reviews

Fragrantica - "Zagorsk is one of my favourite cold weather perfumes. It is peaceful, transcendent, unique. Comforting and loving, present but not dominant, nostalgic in a way. There is something extraordinary about this perfume that transports me to peace, tranquility and hope. Best during colder months, especially winter."

Fragrantica - "It's green, woody, a bit smoky and quite dark/cool. It warms up a bit as it sits, but really for me this is an angsty fragrance. A bit bitter, contemplative, aged. Definitely agree with alfarom's review: it's dark, green and cold. Really mysterious. Evokes for me the idea of Orthodox monks living in the forest alone, contemplating God. I think it's beautiful."

Fragrantica - "In the opening you're trudging through the freezing taiga. After hours of walking you finally see in the distance a large, gothic cathedral. The drydown comes as soon as you enter it and slam the large, heavy door closed. You can still sense the cold, biting air outside, but it is muted by the heavy wooden door and the warm scent of incense and a cozy fire within."

Of course it smells like incense. This is calming. In the beginning I agree with other review that the sharpness like in ivory soap is present. This is a nice pine like experience.

    Interesting!

Opens with the smell of snowy pine; there is also a leathery incense accord that eventually dries down to a clean soapy base, almost like Ivory soap. Not particularly long lasting but a nice wintry mix. I would think this would be nice on men and women alike!
