Altered Leather is a unisex leather fragrance that launched in 2020 and was created by Jean-Christophe Herault and Domitille Michalon Bertier. A new company, Corps Volatils, features a line of fragrance with 24 scents - 12 are 100% natural and 12 are 100% synthetic. Creative Director Nicolas Chabot states: “We wanted to put synthetic materials in the spotlight because they are often drowned in formulas”.
Altered Leather is the mysterious breath of soft, fresh leathery notes like an undiscovered olfactory secret. It uses a unique ingredient - Suederal LT which is a molecule from IFF, developed through synthesis. It offers an animalistic, velvety leather note with a long-lasting drydown note. Suederal LT creates a more intense smell of suede and the musky, leathery suede notes bring enhancement, strength and velvet to perfumes. The perfume is covered by a second-skin facet thanks to this suave, subtle and sophisticated note.

Cafleurebon: Corps Volatils goal is not only to magnify the raw materials but also to play with them. Being a leather lover, I could only opt for Altered Leather. Composed of a unique synthetic note developed by IFF, it is a suede leather, quite chic, the one you can smell when you walk through the door of Parisian shoemakers. A little waxed, velvety but also quite animal. Like any synthetic molecule, it remains linear and is gives itself without restraint.
